Actually just two weeks since the release date. Impressive with the number of views.

You guys discussed Mark comparing songs from California to older albums a couple of pages back, and i just gotta say, it's probably just to get people excited and buy the music. If you want Blink fans to buy music, the smartest thing to do would probably be to say that it is a mix of Enema and Untitled, which is exactly what Travis has been doing.

Also, before Neighborhoods was released, Mark was saying stuff like: "There is a song that sounds like it comes from Dude Ranch on this record!". That song turned out to be Heart's All Gone, which is fast and all, but to me it doesn't really sound like Dude Ranch. So don't look too much into their comparisons.

I had been only 4 listens for the first 10 days trying to limit my listening.
Then went to a friends drinking on sat. And iTunes showed 11 plays but Sunday arvo. Fail. Such a fun song

We all know in the end that the only comparison people will make is "OMG IT SOUNDS LIKE +44 WITHOUT TOM!!1111" anyway. (Although maybe not so much the distinguished folks of this fine thread)

I think I remember him saying the same thing about Go before Untitled was released. Seems like comparing new music to something in the back catalogue is just the easiest reference point, but doesn't necessarily reflect a lack of progression.

I mean even if they say it sounds like Enema or whatever, it really won't. Everyone in the band is so different now that I think it'd be hard to have it actually sound like a song that would fit perfectly on an old record. I feel like the progression comes from the band members and their life experiences no matter what. That can be fuckin' space noises with Tom or just a lyrical maturity or whatever when it comes to Mark. It's progression no matter what. Bored To Death sounds new, has some throwback elements, but the lyrics are totally 2016 Mark and Matt.

Possibly true, but it was still a good step forward (at least IMO). I know I'm late on this, but OhTheWater had a good post about the meaning of "regression".

This is great info. I was so distant from the DED and Neighborhoods releases, no idea how the band hyped them. Knowing that Mark has used similar comparisons before definitely helps.

I was worried Neighborhoods was going to be a let down after their reunion.

With this new album, I have no doubts whatsoever that it'll be good. All it takes is getting everyone in the same room talking, writing and creating.

I'm sure this has been said before, but their enthusiasm for the new album has felt so refreshing and genuine. I can't remember a band being this pumped for people to hear their new jams. They've got me more hyped than I thought I would be for this record.

One more point about the whole progression/regression argument: why are people acting like a "punk" record can't be progressive? Even if there are songs that have an EOTS
Feel doesn't mean the lyrics aren't more intelligent/insightful or the musicianship isn't more complex. Do we really want blink creating some musical "landscapes" right now?

I don't dislike it. But it's not my thing that much. A bit too Roy Lichenstein meets ed hardy tattoo

Neighbourhoods popped up in my iPhone. Forgot how bad that album art looked when shrunk down.
Wasn't stoked on it on vinyl size either

i like alot of his stuff, but not so much what he did with the cover. i hate how he reuses and repeats himself in most of his pieces. his work seems to work better in a physical form when its plastered on buildings ect.

Feels like a legal thing when considering Mark's initial Instagram post and all promotional media fed to the press (initial leaked tour poster). I think Jason touched on them receding on the arrow-less smiley at some point.
