Really enjoyed the season. I think I was expecting more action, but still happy with how it turned out. I haven't read the book so I don't know anything more than than what I've seen on the show, but will the second season be based on the book too? Wasn't sure how much of the story they've told already.

They've barely scratched he surface and also added/veered off course from the book a bit. Gaiman said their plan was five seasons for the book.

Wow, five? I thought the plan was for three. That's pretty ambitious. Although I guess I shouldn't be surprised after they didn't even get to the House on the Rock in the finale like everyone expected them to.

You should definitely try to read it over the summer if you have time. It's incredible and they've been deviating from it in a lot of cool ways so that the show still feels fresh and exciting even though I've read the book. It feels a lot like how the last few seasons of Game of Thrones have been changing things from the books.

Never read the book but I picked it up this weekend and will start soon.

Goddamn I love this show. So bummed it's over for now. Between this and Ash vs. Evil Dead, Starz is just as valuable to me as HBO.

No, but it's on the list. Haven't heard any word-of-mouth, just critic stuff. I imagine you'd recommend it?

Highly recommend it. Each season gets and better. In fact, the third and fourth (final) season is and was some of the best television I've watched. You can tell they are still trying to figure out what kind of what show it wants to be in the first season. It's not bad, but definitely stick with it. You won't regret it.

8 episodes and I still don't know if I like this show haha.

Favorite episode was "A Prayer for Mad Sweeney". The execution and style of that episode was by far the most engaging

Finished the season tonight, pretty solid first season! Glad I went into it knowing nothing, the reveals towards the end were pretty great and I love the way the season wrapped up.

My only gripe is that I did find it to drag a bit in longer scenes that take place in the past. The first 20 minutes of the finale were... fine? But I wasn't THAT invested in the background of the sex goddess dealio. I liked the Irish story, but didn't really care for that much of it.... I guess personally I am way more invested in the main storyline than the surrounding extra material and stories. I get that it's all connected, moreseo with the sex goddess as show at the end, but it was a lot for an 8 episode season to have so much aside from the main storyline

Watched this during the starz free week on sling. The pacing of this show is really weird (Who puts something like "A Prayer for Mad Sweeney" as the penultimate episode? I mean it was fantastic bit of television and probably the best episode of the season, but it barely moved the main plot forward).

Thing is though, it all still mostly worked with some really satisfying payoffs in the final episode and its one of those things where all the unresolved stuff I can still trust Fuller knows what he is doing. With a concept so strong, and so much you can do with it, I certainly don't mind all the extra hanging threads even if they don't all eventually get pulled.

Watched this not too long ago when I did the week trial for Starz. Decided to do a podcast on it, which it out today. American Gods Season 1

I don't recall everything that happened in the book since I read it so long ago, but this was pretty much as weird and interesting as I was expecting it to be.

    That’s not good.

Wonder what Bryan Fuller will work on next. Maybe a new Hannibal season .

If you think those two people are the only reason this show is good then you might want to read up on how the show is made

I had no idea this thing was on such shaky ground, or even that Fuller had left. damn.
