I get what you're saying, but my traditions and sovereignty!

 

Our midfielder Barry Bannan was recently quoted as saying if you can’t play 2 games in 3 days you shouldn’t be a professional footballer. So there’s that.

Boxing Day and New Year day matches have always been a tradition. Unfortunately some fans don’t seem to care about that as long as they can watch several matches a day on Sky.

 

sometimes i feel bad that players have to play three games in a week and then i remember the average pay in the premier league is 50k pounds a week and a game is 2 hours and they get world class medical and rehab care for free as a part of their player contract. if i can lift 8000 pounds of boxes for 40 hours a week for three months making basically minimum wage with no medical care and keeping up a gym routine, they can play six hours of a game. especially when tennis players can play three hours up to seven days in a row, or basketball teams playing back to back days, etc.

^ how i think about it half the time. but as a fan who knows what schedule congestion does to teams, i also think more than a game every three days is very, very dumb. we want them to play at their peak at all times, so three days minimum should be the rule if that is indeed the desire.

Morata was horrible tonight. Could have won the game for Chelsea by a few goals himself.

 

It's good to see Wilshere playing well.

Wilshere, Dele, Dier, Winks gives England a very good and very young midfield.

 

The fixture pile up over Christmas this year seems a bit worse than usual to me. There have been so many games that I've basically stopped paying attention. It just feels like it won't stop.

Also, well paid or not, there's only so much a person can do. Much as I like the boxing day games, the stack of games over Christmas does not lead to teams playing well.

 

I personally think there should be games on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day as it’s a good tradition to have but then not to have any other matches over the the weekends near them if they’re too close to the BD/NYD games.

This year has been more ridiculous than normal thanks to them being staggered so sky/bt sport can have them on tv every day for pretty much a week. Which I think is just stupid.
