There's still a subset of people that shit on any band who uses co-writes.

If they are doing GMA, there's no way they don't do a record release show somewhere in NYC. I'm putting my money down on a Terminal 5 announcement soon.

  5. I can't speak for the entirety of any website, or people, so I have no idea who said what in 2009. But, if you're speaking to me, no, I did not. And no, I do not just "look the other way" when Blink does it.

People just don't understand what co-writing can be, or even what production actually entails.

John could have just helped with song structures, or he could have helped flesh out a chorus idea, or assisted with a lyric, etc. Any number of things.

Bands like 5SOS may have gotten even more help. I don't know what kind of chops they actually have when it comes to songwriting. But the Blink guys have been professionally writing songs for 20+ years. They got this. And even if John gave them ideas while they were writing in the studio, who cares? He's a pro too. The Blink dudes would shoot down any idea they didn't like or didn't feel like was true to Blink-182 so I'm really not worried.

EDIT: Also, why is this even a thing to complain about all of a sudden? We've all heard "Bored To Death" and it's great! One of their best songs since 2009. John can help them as much as he wants, if that's going to be the quality of output they get out of it.

Why can't more people be level headed about things?

Has Jerry Finn gotten any co-writing credits for his work with blink? If he did, this argument would be so settled.

  8. That's the thing. I don't think so.

But it makes me wonder if "co-writing" just falls under the "producer" umbrella and so that's the only credit Jerry asked for in his contract, and John's happens to have something like "must be credited for co-writes" or something.

I don't know how the actual legal stuff works in regard to that, but I could see that being a possibility.

I thought the whole point of having a producer was collaboration? It's not like Feldmann is going "here guys, 16 songs I wrote for your album". Anything to reel in the incohesive mess that is Neighborhood's is fine in my book.

I say one of their best since 2003. I put Bored over everything on Neighborhoods easily. Haha.

    I'm flailing now.

BTD is #3 on KROQ's 106.7 most played list. Looks like the song has some legs and sustainability.

Think of Feldmann co-writing as Blink collaborating with Goldfinger, and who wouldn't want that?

Did BTD make it on the Hot 100 this week?

It's quite funny when you consider one of Goldfinger's biggest "hits" chastises people who don't write their own songs.

Obviously blink write their own songs, but Feldmann having a big part in writing a lot of other peoples songs just makes me laugh.

That song rubbed me the wrong way in 2002 and it still does today. He seemed to change his mind when it benefited him. I still love Feldman, though. If I recall, there is an interview with him calling himself a hypocrite about that song. But he did make up excuses as to why what he does isn't so bad. I'll try to find it when I get a chance.

It hit #1 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart this week, so essentially it was 101. Next week hopefully!

I am a historian of science here at the university and there's this guy from the medieval history department with whom I had a 20 minutes discussion about Bored To Death last week.

    Good times haha :)

Or it's the opposite when Bieber or Katy Perry get credit from someone saying "hey they co-wrote 12/14 songs on the album" where biebs or Katy are just changing a lyric in verse 3 or something.

I have no problem with Johnny boy giving guidance in a song and getting due credit for it. That is what he's getting paid for after all
