Are those the bowl-eligible teams that each played? It's interesting info, I just don't know how illuminating it is. To make a bowl game, you just need six wins, and it doesn't matter who they are against.

For example, Miss St getting six+ wins against teams including Arkansas, BYU, TA&M, LSU is more impressive than SMU getting six+ wins against teams like Arkansas St, UConn, North Texas, and Stephen F. Austin.

Ultimately, we can play this domino effect all the way down the line and run circles around ourselves, but it ultimately comes down to the fact that not all wins are created equal. The NCAA has always made it clear that strength of schedule matters, and UCF's schedule was just not that difficult.

  2. What's so difficult about Bama's schedule then? FSU was trash. A&M stunk. Colorado St and Fresno St aren't that good. Miss St and LSU are good wins but they aren't that much more impressive than Memphis x2 and USF. Those are two really good teams. UCF won @ Navy which snapped their 17-game home winning streak (longest in the country). Bama's toughest game this season was against Auburn and they lost. UCF just beat Auburn.

Bama was impressive before Francois went down and they get credit for a good win there. Next 7 games were against below average to bad teams. Then they beat LSU and Miss St which are two solid wins. But like I said, no more impressive than Memphis x2 and USF. Then they played Mercer who is worse than anyone on UCF's entire schedule. Then lost to Auburn. Their resume this season is no more impressive then UCF. One was unbeaten and ranked 12th. One had one loss and is in the playoffs.

It's strange that Bama's best OOC win was Fresno State.

Also, Fresno State is a good team. They won the MWC (Yes, I know it's not P5) but the job that Jeff Tedford did there in year one was nothing short of incredible.

Their only two losses came @Bama & @Washington.

A Fresno State team that had as many top-25 wins as UCF did.

Alabama's strength of schedule via CFB Reference is 35th in the nation at 4.35 points above average. UCF is 75th at -0.77. Basically they destroyed an average schedule and Alabama destroyed a top-third schedule.

Also, to be fair, CFB Reference rates Bama fifth nationally in SRS (Simple Rating System) and UCF 10th. Schedule aside, both teams weren't that far apart in performance this year.

Edit: Additionally, it's not an end-all, be-all. It's just a good starting point IMO for discussion instead of Top 25 wins which are just at the whim of voters who are just not good at voting (i.e.: multiple voters accidentally voting for Western Kentucky last year when they meant to vote for Western Michigan which impacted WMU's ranking directly or if you're look at the coaches poll, they're filled out by non-coaches for the most part).

  8. I want all power 5 champs to go undefeated one year. Just to see the chaos.

Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, USC, and Oklahoma, to be specific.

Cause if it's like, Alabam, Ohio State, Boston College, USC, and Oklahoma, we all know who gets the snub haha

Oklahoma wouldn’t have a championship game unlike the other four, yeah? Or did the Big 12 fix that after TCU and Baylor got overlooked for Ohio State that year?

They probably would keep out Oklahoma based on the preconceived notion that Big 12 teams don't play defense.

Big 12 conference championship games started again this year because of that hubbub a few years ago.

Omg man. Worst post ever. Any coach on the face of the earth would choose a schedule where they play Memphis twice and USF rather than a schedule where you play Texas A&M, LSU and Miss State. There is no comparison.

And the rest of the SEC teams.

Except Vanderbilt. They would fit in well in the AAC. Their women's lacrosse team will actually join the AAC this spring, so they've got one foot in the door.

In comes the resident Vandy defender to remind you Kyle Shurmur is garbage.

Well he's made the SEC Honor Roll the past two years, and since all college football players are there for the education, he's basically the best QB around.

But Pat Shurmur is all the rage among NFL coaches. So there's that?

Dave Aranda is signed for another "four years". Meanwhile Matt Canada is on his way out? WTF? How haha.

FCS Championship today. Who is excited? Should be a good game. Let's go Bison.

Go Bison indeed. You've got a few good prospects on your team this year.

Also relieved that SDSU isn't playing. I want my boy Goedert as unknown as possible to everyone but JAX haha.
