So excited for this. Hope he tours UK too, seeing him on the 20/20 was a live highlight for me.

 

Hype.

 

I hope he focuses the songs a bit more here. There are a lot of good ideas on the 20/20 albums, but the songs all feel endless whenever I go back to it.

 

to be fair that started on FSLS. the idea of a "continuous album" with a ton of radio edits and a ton of interludes.

i agree with you though, 20/20 is incredible but i would have rather their been more concentration on the 12 best songs than how the two albums were spread out

 

I've enjoyed a lot of his longer tracks but I do hope he has a fair bit of tighter tunes on here.

 

I like long songs but every song being 7+ minutes is exhausting

But seriously, I'm very excited for this album.

 

20/20 part 1 was so good I don’t know how he can top it. Hope he does though.

Just discovered that my wife hates his music though which is a disappointing revelation.

Here for new JT but yeah I'll echo that I hope the songs are tighter and more focused this go-around.

 

The whole every song being 7+ minutes definitely stopped me from ever really getting into 20/20 experience, but to be fair I've always kind of been focused on singles with JT.

 

I love the length of the songs in 20/20, especially Mirrors, that song benefits so much from the length

It just really seemed like he was trying to write songs that were long on 20/20. I think he even said something about it in interviews. It worked for some of the songs, but most of them I think would have benefited from getting trimmed down.

 

Like any album of that nature, I'm sure if it takes more listens to get into, but since it's just a very demanding listen I never really got around to it. It takes energy to listen to that long of an album, especially when its only 10 songs (as opposed to a 15 song album of the same length). So I'm not saying that the long songs make it less good, just that it made it harder for me to get into as a casual fan.

 

According to Genius, the song (first single?) features Chris Stapleton as well.

In all seriousness though am I the only one expecting this to sound a little bit like Bon Iver

 

i'd be surprised if the first single released Chris Stapleton. that would be a bold step for a first single on a new sound.
