Alright I think I finally finished my list. I have a love/hate relationship with lists. I hate making them but I love reading them (for the most part). I've already posted several of these in the past few days, but here's the top 10 in full.

7. Elder - Reflections of a Floating World (stoner/doom) FFO: Sleep, Pallbearer, Baroness

6. Bell Witch - Mirror Reaper (funeral doom) FFO: Ahab, Loss, Mournful Congregation

Out of these 10 bands, I got to see Power Trip, Bell Witch, and Artificial Brain this year, with me passing up Darkest Hour (for Julien Baker) and Necrot (because I forgot). I could say more about the list but this will do for now.

 

Here are some good lists worth checking out. Both Heavy Blog Is Heavy and No Clean Singing posted aggregate lists of a bunch of different music publications. NCS actually included HBiH in their article, so check that one out first. Gives you a very good picture of what's trending:

Out of the 222 albums in the list, I only managed to listen to 73 of them.

I was one of two people who placed Urn, Darkest Hour, and Extremity in my top 10.

Out of the random one-off albums, I only listened to 22 of them.

I had the exact same #1 (not surprising) and #6-7, which is kinda funny. My favorite debut (The Ominous Circle) placed 8th.

 

Checking in to this thread for the first time in over a week. Christmas, getting married, and not being at work got in the way of shitposting here.

Well, between that list and the Shreddit list that will be generated on the 6th, I'll have a lot of metal from 2017 that I missed to listen to in January 2018. Between that and what's supposed to be coming out in the first half of this year, I just need to except that I'll never get caught up on everything. Le sigh.

Also, the new Infernal Coil EP is streaming online. Any project that's ex-Dead in the Dirt will get a listen from me and this is a pretty good blend of cavernous death metal and grind:

This still makes me miss Dead in the Dirt so, so much though. Everything about that band was perfect to me.
