after seeing it and going in to read the spoiler posts, i found out that apparently the yoda scene was spoiled/severely hinted at a while ago because frank oz was confirmed to be on set, and im SO glad i didnt know about it beforehand, because i had the stupidest grin on my face as soon as I saw his head pan by. Was such a great surprise.

 

Same. I avoided everything about this. Glad I did so. I don't agree with a lot of choices they made, but at least I was surprised at every turn which made for a great 1st watch experience.

 

I avoided everything. I even walked out of theaters during the trailers. I didn't want to know anything.

 

First viewing I didn’t mind the casino scenes that much, as well as the pacing of the first hour. After the second viewing I noticed that the pacing felt really odd to me and the casino scene dragged. The Leia scene was just as bad the second time around as the first for me. The second time I walked out of the theater feeling like Rian only watched the first and last 30 minutes of TFA, even though he obviously watched the whole thing. It just felt like a really weird sequel.

 

Still better than whatever Lucas would’ve cooked up

I'm sure Disney had absolutely nothing to do with that haha. Anyways, if force ghost yoda can summon lightning and blow shit up, why doesn't he do something useful like take out first order ships instead of just burning a tree...

 

Well yeah, I would place TLJ above the prequels for sure. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t happy that Abrams is coming back for ep. IX though.

 

I don’t think you get Yoda and the Jedi.

 

If force ghosts can manipulate the physical world, why did luke have to go to yoda for training, obi wan couldve trained him from beyond the grave. Just saying force ghosts are more interesting as guiding forces, not as something that can have physical effects. Speaking of new force powers, how could kylo and Leia touch Hans dice if force projections are only visible not physical? Rian didnt think it through, just wrote whatever he thought looked cool.

 

They literally showed you the physical aspect in the movie ... Rey and Kylo touch ... your entire posting history is “omg the force can move objects, how does it work?” and things that are literally shown in the movie. Maybe watch it again?

Why don’t all the force jedi just come back all the time and live and fight and never leave?

 

Why didn’t Obi Wan die and then immediately come back and stab Darth Vader?

 

Maybe you should watch it again, they go out of their way to show that force projections have no effect on the physical world, lukes foot doesnt move the salt, its why he just dodge kylo instead of attacking. And youre making stuff up about my posting history, I'm aware of how the force works, and don't question it. I only question rians decision on how to use it

 

Exactly, Rian created a new force power that screws up and already established universe. Thats exactly my issue haha

 

Maybe Luke read that in the books, idk man.

 

That didnt really solve the problem I have with the film, you just said you could explain any problem. And if you think mark wasn't influenced by disney into apologizing, youre delusional

 

Two characters literally touch through the force, it’s a huge part of the plot. And the dice disappear. They’re not real. He picks them up and they vanish.

(And that’s not why Luke dodges and doesn’t attack.)

 

Love how much people pick and choose what they wanna believe based on if they agree with it. It’s why caring what Mark Hamil says is a waste of time to begin with, his idea for ROTJ was bad too.

I really don’t see how having a Force projection of yourself on another planet ruins things. If his projection could physically attack things, maybe. Otherwise, this is just nitpicking.

 

Rey and kylo arent force projecting, kylo literally says that Rey isnt projecting because it would kill her and it must be something else. I know the dice disappear after kylo picks them up, the isue is that he shouldnt have been able to pick them up at all as they are a projection. The projection doesnt have physical effect as evidence by lukes foot, which they go out of the way to show isnt affecting the salt.

Its exactly why luke dodges the attacks. He is trying to buy time for the resistence to escape, if kylo was able to hit him, he wouldve known it was a projection, and lukes plan would fail. Lol

 

Pretty sure that was more symbolism on how all those who loved or cared about Kylo have now disappeared or will disappear out of his life than anything else.

 

I dont have a problem with force projection, I have a problem with the inconsisnency it created. Again they go out of the way to show it is merely a visible projection, yet kylo and Leia both physically touch the dice. It was lazy writing and a plot hole
