Yup. Exactly. I want more stuff on the failure of the old Jedi and Obi Wan finding balance and learning how to become one with the force. I think you can have a mission/plot that helps weave in that underlying focus.

I really like that idea. Really high risk/high reward mission, but with Obi-Wan still at the height of his power and abilities. Would be very compelling.

Would anybody okay with Vader being the villain. Maybe him finding out anakins alive and wrestling with that regret. Blaming himself for not killing him when he had the chance. Maybe tries to face him and convert him bringing more meaning to the “Obi Wan once thought as you did” line in ROTJ. Never had Obi Wan have that sentiment about Vader in canon since the only time they faced was in episode 4.

Have him try and fail which is why he thinks he’s more machine than man now.

Not saying I need him to be the villain and I need those lines to have further meaning but it’s be cool and you’re not going to have James Earl Jones forever. Would love a different antagonist too.

Obi-Wan finds out Mace Windu survived his fall and is now living in exile. Kenobi gets word from Qui-Gon Jinn's ghost and goes undercover to help track Mace down before the Empire does. Hey, if Darth Maul can survive... plus, Samuel L.Jackson seems keen... lol.

Also, Obi-Wan finds a love interest along the way (knowing the Jedi have fallen he cares less about their 'no relationship' rule) and it ends with her being pregnant with Rey (who they reluctantly abandon to protect from the Empire). Connecting both trilogies and actually giving Rey substance as a strong force-wielder (who had no training).

The Darth Maul/Obiwan storyline would have made an awesome movie. Though, the way it was done on Rebels was perfect.

Darth Maul surviving always blows my mind, especially when Qui-Gon didn't from a much milder injury. I get that it's canon, but it never made sense.

oh yeah, duh. my bad, lol. scrap that idea then (unless you do grandkids but meh).

But meh, hope the Kenobi film is tailored more towards the Prequels fans (and we do exist). OT fans have had everything else lately (movie-wise).

An older Boba Fett could also track down Mace Windu (who killed his father) if he's brought back in Kenobi. That was an intended sub-plot for Episode 3 anyway.

There's so many ways the Kenobi stand-alone film could potentially go. The idea personally excites me a lot more than the Solo film.

I think the biggest thing was that it gave the EU (at the time) an exciting villain to put in books and cartoons while he was basically dead to the main story-line.

One of my favorite stories about George Lucas’ meddling with SW is that a few years back before he sold it to Disney, there was a game in development about Maul. It was supposed to have this female Sith that was his rival/enemy that you fought throughout the game IIRC. George visited the studio working on the game and saw two figures of Maul and his rival next to each other. He took them and said, “Oh look, they’re friends!” and since he had a say in the creative process, the studio had to change this whole storyline they’ve been working on to hamfist this buddy element with the now former rival.

    It just gets better.

I legitamately have a defense for every single complaint I’ve heard. Didn’t think I could love the film more than I did after the first viewing, or even the second, but the third viewing expounds on that appreciation for what Rian Johnson has accomplished.

Felt the same way after my 3rd round. I don't think there will be another viewing in theaters (but who knows really, what am i expected to be, financially responsible???) but when this comes out physically/digitally I will binge on it so many more times.

I still want to take my mom to see it, so potentially one more theater viewing. Only $4 a ticket at my theater though.

I’m the opposite. The more I saw the film and the more I think about it the more I realize I was disappointed by the film. Being a huge fan of TFA made me expect this film to be just as great, but to me it wasn’t.

I actually liked this movie a lot, but I want to know if there is a defense for Force Ghost Yoda being the fake, jokey Yoda instead of actual Yoda.

In Empire, weird jokey Yoda was an act to Luke and then his demeanor changes once he reveals himself.

He was weird jokey yoda for half the scene then wise yoda for the other half of the scene. ITS POETRY. IT RHYMES.

In the theater with my wife for round 3. It's one of those fancy places with alcohol/food. Showed up 45 minutes early and most of the good seats are already taken.

he's only weird and jokey for a moment, while he blows the tree up, but very quickly segues into wise teacher yoda. I would have been disappointed if we got Yoda and didn't get a quick scene where he was acting a fool/poking fun at Luke somehow.

I was just happy he was a puppet! Maybe my favorite part of the movie. I'll have to see it again, I just remember thinking afterwards "wait, why was he acting goofy?". I honestly can't recall how long he was jokey for. I though it was for the whole time but I'm probably wrong.

he goes about his lesson in a semi-comedic way, taking jabs at the apparent boring-ness of the jedi texts (TEXTS!!), and then proceeding to smack luke in the face with his cane. loved the scene so much haha

I wasn't expecting that at all (dunno if I should have been) but when it does the pan of Luke going up to the tree and you see his head and ears, I was so happy.
