Saw this today and i loved every second

 

I don’t think she’s a clone either, I don’t know how you make her a skywalker at this point but here’s the only thing that bothers me. It’s a story about skywalkers and 2 our of the 4 skywalkers are darkside murderers. Also once Kylo is done then you are saying the episode saga needs to end.

 

Just speculating and theorizing here... Not sure if its been broached, which it probably has, but could Rey just not have parents? Like Anakin with no father, but somehow she has neither? When she sees herself that is something that I instantly thought of.

 

She was clearly left by (pretty strongly indicated) her parents in VII though.

I doubt there’s some sort of virgin birth repeated thing that happens.

 

I’d be more pissed off if Rey was born out of thin air than if her dad was Jar Jar lol

 

It could be her interpretation at the time. You're right. She's clearly dropped off and watches the ship fly away, but that could be interpreted incorrectly on her part. I feel like seeing herself means something to the viewer, but I could be wrong.

 

Rey has a flashback in TFA of her parents leaving Jakku, but then Kylo says her parents are buried in a desert of Jakku in this movie.

 

I get that they may be a bothersome idea, but I’m pretty sure that’s what we’re getting. She’s not a Skywalker, I think we’re way past that.

I like the idea of her being born to unknown characters, just not convinced it’s as cut and dry as Kylo made it seem. Maybe it is, and if that’s all that’s said if her parentage for the trilogy I’m cool with it. JJ has wiggle room for sure though.

 

Two things.

The ship didn’t necessarily have to leave Jakku, or they could have even returned.

Or, Kylo is lying or at the very least editorializing. I tend to believe the latter.

 

I agree, both are possible.

I am thinking he is lying. Or possibly misinterpreting his vision, as he did when he said he saw Rey turning. But that's only because I am hanging on us seeing her look at herself meaning something.

 

It definitely does mean something. It shows her biggest fear, that she’s alone and has no one to help her but herself.

Never in a million years did I think I'd have to wait this long to see a Star Wars movie

If this is indeed true, why didn’t Disney know how terrible Alden is before hiring him? Didn’t Disney have many auditions?

 

Round 3 for me today. Grew up seeing movies with my cousins, who used to be my best friends, but with marriages and kids in the picture, we're lucky to see one movie every few years. Our schedules just never line up like this, so it's a 10:00 AM showing today.

Gah Thank you. Finally got around to reading this it’s probably my favorite analysis of the movie (or at least this aspect of the movie). Love how he used other canon to support his points as well and even mentioning Jung’s shadow aspect. The whole thing sums up why i love this movie so much and Rian Johnson. He nailed the force and the mythology which IMO was the most important thing for this franchise. People who say he ruined Star Wars need to read this.

Favorite point he made was how beating fear is a life long journey and not something you level up on. Just because luke overcame fear once doesn’t mean he passed a threshold where hes immune and just has that power to overcome it at will.

 

Theater is packed at 10:00 AM.

 

Should have never made the film in the first place.

Anyways , target.com is already advertising their exclusive TLJ blu Ray preorder which features exclusive behind the scenes content and a 40 page booklet.

 

I think Solo is gonna be awful... and I’ll see it 3-4 times

 

Seriously. I can't imagine it being any good.

 

Ugh I just hope it doesn’t dissuade them from doing Obi-Wan. No big budget. Keep it simple. It’s Star Wars. People will see and you’ll make a big profit.

 

Obi-Wan would be great with a similar dynamic of Rey and Luke in TLJ. Maybe have Obi-Wan communicating with Qui-Gon about their failure with Anakin, maybe he has to leave Tatooine for one "mission" type thing, but I think his story would be great as more bottled in exile.
