Imagine being Yoda and realizing you were teaching Jedi (is Jedi singular or plural) the wrong way for over 900 years. All of the recent Jedi that we have seen in screen can just blame their outlook of the force on Yoda.

In episode 2F09, when Itchy plays Scratchy's skeleton like a xylophone, he strikes the same rib in succession, yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we to believe, that this is a magic xylophone, or something? Ha ha, boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

Binary star systems are incredibly common irl. I love that Star Wars uses them.

I have bad news for you about the OT. George Lucas had Luke kiss his sister. It wasn't even planned to be Leia until George wrote ROTJ.

Yeah I know, they winged it but aside from the kiss you couldn't tell, it felt cohesive. This trilogy is all over the place already, And just seems lazy, IMO

At work we have a shit ton of these promotional cards. I wish they didn’t have the Topps logo on them, but they are seriously so well done. My feelings around Star Wars are somewhat complicated I guess, but I will always geek out over the ships/costume design. I love that stuff so much.

These Grant Morrison quotes remind me a lot of the recent conversations in here:

That's not to say that a nitpick standing out to you personally is inherently stupid. I've had nitpicks that naturally stuck out to me naturally in films I didn't like. That's natural. But, you'll be hard pressed to find a genre film that doesn't break down.

At the end of the day, if the film is good (which is a somewhat relative and multifaceted concept in both art and entertainment), it really doesn't matter what aspects of it don't work in real life because movies aren't real life. They're fiction.

Idk man, like on the one hand I totally get those quotes, on the other hand I still feel like suspension of disbelief has to be earned.

Physics work different in the Star Wars universe. That is all.

I hope people who have a big problem with the physics of TLJ don't find out how lasers work and what that means for lightsabers.

I dont have an issue with made up physics like that. Lasers and lightsabers make star wars interesting. However ships requiring fuel in space to maintain momentum is boring and lazy. Thats the difference. The whole plot was as interesting as watching a slow bicycle race where the last person wins. The stakes did not seem high because simple physics ruin all the tension, they tried to build.

Seeing this again yesterday did wonders. First time I saw it I was mixed-to-positive, but now I fully love it. Just like I suspected, once I had time to process things and accept what this movie was going for and what it wasn't, I was fully won over. I got more chills this time knowing what was coming than I did the first time, somehow it was just more magical this time.

I've seen this complaint mentioned a lot and it's one that I think actually has some merit:

After The Force Awakens, there were a ton of specific unanswered questions about what would happen next that made fans excited for the next movie. After this one, all we really know is... the Rebellion survived and they're gonna have to fight the First Order again. So it's kind of like we know everything and nothing, it's a VERY open-ended conclusion which could lead to any number of different directions for Ep. IX... but at the same time there's not really any *concrete* things that are unresolved other than Kylo Ren and the First Order obviously still exist and have to be dealt with.

Just watched for the third time, I love it more with every viewing. A few things from this trip.

I can't believe I didn't notice Poe is calling him "General Hugs" instead of Hux at the top. I was so focused on him pretending he couldn't hear him and giving him the run around I totally missed the mispronunciation.

Regarding Kylo talking to Rey about her parents. He definitely broaches the subject first in the force vision before the cave. He says they threw her away like garbage, she responds that it's not true. When they meet in person, she says first that they were nobody, but not after Kylo has planted some sort of idea. I think they've made it grey enough that it's not just open and shut. I'm cool with her parents not being anyone we know and I'm not advocating they "change anything" in IX, but I don't know it's as clear as we've been lead to believe. (just read that IGN article too, she's not a clone haha).

As for something my wife thinks she noticed. In Luke's final scene, she said it appeared to her the first sun was setting and the second sun was rising. I didn't notice myself, but if that's the case the symbolism definitely goes a step further than I had thought. Of course the twin suns call back to Luke's beginnings, but in this scenario as one light sets (Luke) the new light (Rey) rises to take it's place. Explains why there only ever seemed to be one sun out during Rey's time on Ahch To. I don't recall this being brought up in the thread (or really anywhere), has anybody noticed if this is the case? Gonna pay extra close attention on viewing 4.

Love this film. Stoked for IX and for Rian's trilogy. Good time to be a fan.
