being a Good Band is definitely one thing

  7. incognitojones

There's a ton of good bands no one hears tho, buzz is directly linked to good band exposure and success. There is also a finite level of buzz that can be maintained with a large amount of good bands missing out. There's a bunch of albums that are on most of these lists, who decides, how does it build, where does it go

  8. cwhit

    still emperor emo Prestigious

that's all marketing and label push of course, sites post things less on merit and more on politics with promoters and stuff

but usually to actually get legitimate buzz you have to be good. snail mail got it through some great SXSW performances. at least in the general scene new bands don't get buzzy without a reason

I'm not saying there isn't a reason or buzzy bands are bad, I want like data on the intangibles. How does one performance make an impact, do writers have to be there and talk the band up after, what are the factors, how does this happen

  14. iCarly Rae Jepsen

    run away with me Platinum

I've been so out of the loop on buzz bands after it stopped being blog oriented, I think it still is to some extent but I feel like when I see a band on Pitchfork or Brooklyn Vegan it's like oh y'all have been listening to them for 3 years
