  1. I just figured he owned one of Tom's guitars. Likely nothing.

  2. I've been largely dormant here lately but saw some discussion about blink falling to the wayside recently. That's been the case for me, too. They're my all time favorite band but I almost never listen to them. What have you all been listening to lately? La Bouquet is my go-to EP this month. Julien Baker a lot this year. Menzingers, The Wonder Years, Dashboard, I actually really liked GC's xmas EP, The Maine (also with a good xmas EP this year), Jimmy Eat World, Paramore, Knuckle Puck, Naked and Famous. That's what my 2017 has looked like, anyway.

I can’t take the negativity. Sure I’ve listened to lots of other stuff besides blink lately but I always return to them at least once a month and damn sure will when new stuff comes out.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I thought 2017 was a great year for new music.....Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, Ryan Adams, Lorde, Gorillaz, Kendrick, Haim, Paramore, SZA, Vince Staples, Amy Shark, the return of Dashboard, both Liam and Noel Gallagher putting out new stuff simultaneously, Wolf Alice, Camp Cope, The xx, The National, Royal Blood.

The crazy thing is some of my favorite bands put out new records this year and I barely listened to them (Blink's Deluxe, Arcade Fire, Foo Fighters, Weezer, Andrew McMahon). They just paled in comparison to everything else.

Your changing of your user name to a SOTY one from a blink one says otherwise

Yeah Mark texted me and said if his all time biggest fan can't keep his blink-themed username than what's the point of continuing the band

I just think of blink like candy or ice cream. I crave it like crazy, especially when i have to go a long time without it....then I finally get it, have way too much, then don't want it for a long time. I have to get that blink craving back.

Blink will always be a top 10 band for in terms of importance and how they make me feel, but probably not a top 10 band outside of that. Like I’ll see them live every damn time they’re in town but it’ll never blow me away

    I'm flailing now.

Here is the question for all the nay sayers... me included. When Blink comes out with their new album next year, will you by it and/or stream it? Most of us will answer yes. Whether CA stuck with us or not, it connected us to our past and good memories. That is worth $10-$20.

Still love blink. Listen to them almost daily, one of the few bands for which my love has been consistent.

Fair enough, their music isn't going to impact everyone the exact same way.

I dunno. I mean, I don’t want to be overly negative about blink, but there is much better music out there. I don’t feel bad that my attention towards them hasn’t lessened. They were a great foundation for me to get into music, but that lead me to much much better music.

There will always be nostalgia, but mostly, that’s it for them.

Yup same here. I don't think I'll ever like another band as much as I like blink. I realize that there are better bands/musicians out there but to me blink has always been my favorite ever since I first heard WMAA.

  24. same, to all of that. i'll always say they're my favorite band. not because their music is the best or anything, but because they are the band that got me interested in listening to music and playing guitar. i might not be who i am or even on this site if it wasn't for them. i think that's why i feel so strongly about their later output, because it doesn't inspire me the same way that their music from 97-03 did. maybe it's because i'm older and my tastes went in a different direction, who knows. but all i know is that they're still my favorite band even despite me not loving everything they do.

Agree 100%, well said. I know I wouldn't be on this site without blink. I honestly have no clue what type of music or bands I would like or being into without them. They were a huge influence on me growing up and like you got me into playing the guitar and later bass. My first concert was an all day radio festival in Connecticut that had blink as the headliner with other bands like NFG, Sum 41, Good Charlotte and Unwritten Law on the bill so after that day I got really into punk and that type of music.

The band isn't the same anymore and really hasn't been the same since the Pop Disaster Tour cycle ended, although 2003-2004 was probably their peak and best in terms of on stage performance and song writing. It's a shame what happened to the band, if you told me back in 2001 that this would happen I never would believe it, they just seemed so close and such good friends.
