Sorry, I meant the video that Tom just posted within the last few days. He acted like that was some spectacular announcement lol

Why the hell am I the only one that thinks No Future is one of the best songs on the album

Cut the na nas and the random “no future!” and it’d be a pretty great song

You're not. Both Travis and Matt have said it's their favorite, haha.

No Future and Left Alone are my most played songs from CA so you’re not alone

  7. Although I like the majority of the songs, I wouldn't be too sad if every California era song (other than "Bored to Death" and "She's Out of Her Mind") went into space and got lost forever.

Sadly, "Bored to Death", "Left Alone" and "San Diego" are the only ones I jump to when I consider playing blink. I kind of expected that because I played the shit out of it when it came out.

From the front page of the Sunday New York Times:

"Mr. Elizondo has now joined Mr. Puthoff and another former Defense Department official, Christopher K. Mellon, who was a deputy assistant secretary of defense for intelligence, in a new commercial venture called To the Stars Academy of Arts and Science. They are speaking publicly about their efforts as their venture aims to raise money for research into U.F.O.s."

That's awesome! I didn't get to read over that article in full so good to see there's a mention of them in there.

  11. I can't remember the last time I listened to California. I guess at the time I was in the puppy love stage with it because of Matt. Looking back outside a few songs it just isn't good.

California still holds up well for me but I haven't listened to it in months. I've been on more of an old school kick and have been listening to Dude Ranch a lot more lately. I think I've seriously underrated that album growing up somehow. Even the Tom only songs that I didn't think aged well seem fine (although I'm still not a big fan of Boring or Degenerate).

California is like a nice, polished video game that looks good visually and is a blast initially but has repetitive game play that you get burned out on after a short while.

It's an enjoyable album, but I think there are some very obvious things that they can improve on next time. Most of which we've beaten to death in this thread (the overused na na's, the lack of guitar riffs, the repetitive chord progressions, the "suburban youth" lyrics).

Yeah I’ve been listening to a ton of Dude Ranch lately. Mark is so strong on that album.

  15. For sure, and Mark was the strongest until Untitled.

I play untitled a lot more this time of year

Honestly though this year I barely played blink at all. There’s been too much new amazing stuff out there that takes up my attention

I think it's probably Mark's best album, all his songs are so good.

Yup, it's crazy looking back how much Mark carried blink until Untitled in my opinion. The Mark only songs on all of the albums really blow Tom's songs out of the water and it wasn't close until TOYPAJ. Once Tom 'went to music school' and did BCR his songs were better than Mark's.... until he grew his hair out like Bono then things changed back again.

You know what? For old times sake

    Cheshire: Mark
    Dude Ranch: Mark
Enema: Mark (I would have answered Tom in high school. As I’m older, though, songs like “Wendy Clear” resonate with me way more than “Dysentery Gary”)
    TOYPAJ: Tom
    Untitled: Tom
    Neighborhoods: Tom
    DED: Tom
    California: honestly a tie

Hey it's 3 more years than me, so it's not a knock on him, Mark was just a better song writer.

Yeah the only album that I would debate would be TOYPAJ where I actually think it's a tie, especially if you include the bonus songs.

Yep, I'm saying Mark all the way until TOYPAJ, though "Carousel" is my favorite single song on Cheshire and "Dogs Eating Dogs" is my favorite from that release.

With TOYPAJ, I would say it's about a tie because they both have a a similar number of good and bad ones. After that, Tom had a higher quantity of songs on each release so I think it's a little unevenly weighted, but I'll still give it to him.
