i totally get not wanting to see that era in a film and not being interested in it. i can only speak for myself, but the two KOTOR games are a BIG reason as to why i love that era. its a different political climate and just a different aesthetic for the Star Wars universe and i think thats a big draw for a lot of fans. seeing Jedis and Siths attempt to be diplomatic and ultimately going to an all out war is fascinating and there are a truck load of great characters crafted for that area that id love to see on the big screen or even animated or something. but i totally agree with moving forward and i was actually happy to hear Rians trilogy wouldnt be set in the old republic era. the SW universe is vast and im ready to explore other areas of it.

i think another big reason KOTOR gets brought up a lot in terms of wanting a trilogy is its the only main era to not have a movie based on it. theres enough tertiary material to keep me satisfied though, im more interested in seeing where episode IX and the next trilogy go

Also KOTOR is one of the greatest things to come out of Star Wars but I'm afraid a movie might ruin it.

Haven't weighed in, but what an experience. Don't feel like posting plot points because most others here have covered them well, but this movie has been sloshing around in my brain since Saturday afternoon and I feel like I find something new to like about it every time I think about it.

I left the theatre feeling VERY conflicted, confused, frustrated, but also excited, amazed, shocked. After discussing some of the plot points with my wife a bit more, I realized just how much there was that I was excited about and I really did find myself at so many moments with my eyes wide and mouth hanging open - few films, let alone Star Wars films, have left me that way.

With that being said, I think my constant indulgence in viewer reactions alongside rewatching TFA right before I went to the theatre kind of soured my experience a bit. I spent so much time trying to find the good and the bad, the "whys" of people loving/hating it the entire time I watched that it left me feeling like I was distracted. Not to mention the pace is so DRASTICALLY different from TFA that it made it feel a bit jarring by comparison.

I plan to go by myself this week and rewatch it, but as of right now, I feel very positively about this movie.

The tension between Kylo and Rey was so well done. Not something I was ever expecting to see (I loved it so much if I'm being honest ha and her calling him Ben). I love the dynamic between them and their yearning for connection and perspectives on family.

I love how Rey does not compromise herself for a man, no matter how much she is feeling it. She remains consistent to her ideals and realizes that she can't change him. Kylo will have to make the decision to follow her to the light. He now has no master and no one left -- where does he go from here? At the moment, I'm most interested to see what Kylo's journey is in the next film. I can't wait for the novelization just to get more insight into Rey and Kylo's moments.

Also, loved seeing more of Billie Lourd's character as well. Wasn't expecting that ha. It's not a big part or anything but I love how many of the cast include their family members in these films (Oscar Isaac stated how his family have played first order troopers in TFA and TLJ).

I loved Kotor 1 and 2 games when I played them as much as anyone. They ruled.

But I just wanna see as much new as possible. I hope the next trilogy is 100% new.

See, this would have been cool, but the movie was finished shooting when Carrie died. Leia was supposed to be a prominent figure in IX.

Luke being killed by Kylo would have been a bigger missed opportunity than any of these combined

I'm glad he didn't kill him. It would've been too similar to Darth Vader "killing" Obi Wan.

About halfway through “The Spark” on the soundtrack, this badass theme starts that is in the trailer. Probably my favorite of the new music.

  12. Some of the Old Republic fiction is really good, and Revan is one of the most interesting Star Wars characters, so really everyone should want a movie set in that era.

Wow that is so fucking good. I feel like this is what was playing when Luke faced the First Order and Kylo. The Rebellion is Reborn is another one of my favorites.

I really just wish we got Laura Dern for Episode IX, too. I love her and she was SO GOOD in this,

I feel like a movie set in that time would have to follow the first game's story beat for beat or get ripped apart. The first game has an amazing story I'd just prefer something new.
