I keep wondering this too. Legit not trying to troll, but wouldn't the risky thing to do be to kill Rey/Ben? Killing Snoke (a character we barely know) is just like...okay? I am all for risk-taking, blowing fan expectations away, but idk, just felt like minor zigging and zagging. Still some very badass scenes in this movie though

So we know Kylo’s side and Luke’s side. But what’s the truth?

So i just watched again and I was totally wrong about how DJ knew about the Resistance using the smaller ships. I dont think he actually told him that specifically , I think he did something though to help them get into their system?

Idk it wasnt clear to me even a second time through, but I was dead wrong about what I said with him hearing Finn and Poe talk through the comm link.

At first I thought it was Rian. Knew it was a SW director. Saw online it was Garreth

I think the third version we see is the truth.

He hears them talk about it when they are talking to Poe as Rose flys their ship. They sign off with Poe and turn around to DJ sitting directly behind them.

Luke eventually told the truth. Kylo’s Side was also true but skewed a bit for how he PERCIEVED it.

Yep, after seeing this a second time, I absolutely love it. Purchasing the soundtrack today.

Also, the visual dictionary and the concept art book look great. I would love to flip through those (evidently Rey had a Han inspired outfit at one point -- very cool).

Definitely don’t think this took as many risks as everyone’s saying. The thing that got me about this movie was that it still felt too similar to the OT

He hears Poe say Holdo’s loading up the transports before they get to the Star Destroyer when they’re on the stolen ship. It cuts to him for a second while Poe’s talking to Finn and Rose about the transports right before the mutiny.

Any changing opinions? Im back from seeing it again and funny thing is, I not only didnt mind everything from Canto Bight, but i actually really enjoyed it almost every moment of it minus BB8 shooting coins. It really just felt like a fun action adventure that whole time. Also more I think about it the more I think Canto Bight is a direct reference to Earth and our society in particular. The money, the animal stuff, and the kids really have turned me around on Finn and Rose's journey. Very powerful/meaningful second time through.

Also anti- BB8 shooting coins. One step too far into looney toons territory.

  21. I disagree with both sentences. From a "world" standpoint it may have felt like the OT, but from a storytelling standpoint, it's completely different. From a time perspective all the way up to the small, specific, settings most of our characters stay in for a giant portion of the movie.

And to those saying the movie didn't take risks: Two of our main characters and scenes are on a ship slowly moving away from another ship, while the main character hangs out on an island with a completely broken version of the main character from those movies we all love. We learn new things about the force, completely shift our thinking of who Luke was, and became, completely subvert all expectations of who Rey was, completed decimate the Resistance, and the final "battle" never has our characters even touch lightsabers. Two new characters we've never known are given ample screen time, and we still know very little about Rey and are basically told that's the point for now. Where we came from, everything that's come before, is supposed to burn.

There's a very safe, TFA-esque version of this movie to be made that woulda been a simple/fun action movie ... but this was not that. We see Luke, Rey, Kylo, Poe, and Finn all show almost the opposite of what we saw of them in the first movie by the end of this one.

I was getting at the saying. There’s always three sides to a story. Both people skew it for Rey.

It’s when Poe is like “where are you guys?Holdo is loading the shuttles and abandoning the ship.” Finn tells him to hold on because they are “4 par secs away” and they he need to buy them some time. Poe asks if they got the master slicer and they are like, “we got A Slicer”. They show DJ right behind them.
