Also we do we know that Kylo knew the lightsaber broke in half weren’t they’ve sent flying back immediately?

  3. And Rey ends up with it, right? I don’t think there’s any reason to know he knows its fate at that point.

The kiss at the end was weird

  5. Rose? I loved it. She’s overcome with emotion for Finn, thought it was a really cute moment. (also men have done that for years in movies, I liked the reversal.)

Honestly this is a dumb discussion. It’s coming down to, “x amount of laser blasts is overkill, but if it had been y amount it would make sense.”

I just don’t care about that. It worked on a character level and that’s all I care about.

I know, I was thinking maybe the point was a gender role reversal. I didn’t notice any romantic tension leading up to it I guess.

  8. I was trying to decide if it was a friendly love or a romantic love. Need another watch.

Speaking of romance, I’d be fine with Rey and Poe falling for each other but I hope it isn’t too forced in Episode 9. They went two entire movies without meeting each other, I don’t think it’s needed so I don’t know how i feel about the hint at the end

I don’t think you need tension leading to a kiss. People who go through a high emotion event often tend to tightly bond (though for how long is uncertain) and tend to get very close very quickly. Her actions and feeling for Finn make total sense. Love probably wasn’t the best word for her personal context, but it serves as a big picture POV.

  11. That entire scene is setting up and playing with the “legend” of Luke. The past and the future.

Did you end up reading that new Luke book?

    I really really loved this.

I have a few gripes, mostly relating to the Finn/Rose arc which most people already mentioned, but I’m very impressed overall. Snoke’s death didn’t bother me at all, I felt like it was a cool surprise and I get why it happened for the purpose of Kylo’s character. Ditto with Rey’s parents. Definitely feel like both of those are mostly fans feeling like they wasted hours upon hours theorizing for nothing, haha

I LOVED Luke in this movie, Mark Hamill was so great!! Ahhh, just really happy.

I think that it could be a huge part of the next trilogy. Which isn’t a bad thing.

I wish they didn’t show a shot of Rey’s lightsaber starting to move next to Snoke before it ignited. Once that happened I basically guessed what was about to happen, if they hadn’t included that shot I would have never seen it coming.

  17. I am looking forward to the novel of this movie though.

You’re right. I love both characters so I’m looking forward to them having scenes together and playing off one another. I think I would have just preferred a Han/Leia-esque slow build if this trilogy has any romance.

I kind of was super annoyed by a lot of it upon reading it.

But it ties in to this in a lot of ways and honestly, his Craitt scene could have easily been a chapter in the book. Thinking about the book and seeing it again today really connected them for me and made me view the book in a whole new light.

It still could be built that way.

I don’t see them focusing the next trilogy on the same characters. Maybe I’m wrong.

I mean my thought in the moment was luke created a force forcefield to protect himself from the blasts, I’m sure Kylo could have thought the same thing

  23. I think that’s the audience expectation as well. (I had a guess it was a projection already cause I’m a dork.)

That’s the point, he’s just a nobody who was trying to come to power, Kylo is the real villain of this trilogy and will be unbelievably powerful in the next film

  25. The Marvel movies didn’t have the gumption to try anything this bold for so long. Love Rian went for it on movie 2.
