Totally. This has really been the main storyline of this new trilogy and it was the best development of the film and the best thing this new trilogy has added to the franchise. If they were going to hit on anything it was this dynamic and they did it perfectly.

@Jason Tate since we are foregoing spoiler tags now... can you change the title of the thread to indicate something to that effect?

I may be in the minority, but I really liked Rose. Her falling for Finn muddies the potential love triangle between Rey and Finn, and that may be a big factor in IX.

  4. We haven't done that before, have we? Shouldn't people just know? I worry about the expectation if a title isn't changed then people will get mad, when I think the expectation shouldn't be the title, it should be when the movie is finally out. I don't wanna have to be changing titles to spoiler tags/no spoiler tags on and off for a lot of movies. That's all I'd do. Haha.

  5. I liked Rose too. Especially her moral compass, her relationship with her sister, and her saving Finn. Saying that's how we win, we save people ... and that it doesn't always have to be sacrifice/suicide to win the Rebellion.

  8. I suppose I should probably have a stickied thread with rules/conventions about threads in the forum, so people know what is going to happen.

Yea, I really liked the character of Rose. Very looking forward to seeing what she gets to do next.

And the potential triangle is def there... Rey gives Finn a look when he is covering up Rose. As someone brought up before, they went out of there way to officially on screen introduce Rey and Poe.

Totally shocked when they revealed there were like 10 jawas under that gold robe.

lol I posted on Facebook for people to message me with their thoughts on the film so we could discuss it. some guy (who hated TFA, for the record) immediately messaged me with "worst Star Wars movie ever?" I asked him "Have you even seen the Attack of the Clones?"

Probably the best way to go. Everyone should see it and it’s a one time action for you.

  14. Yeah, I think her and Poe got the most "growth" as characters.

Kylo to a different degree. I really liked seeing Luke coming to terms with who he was, his story about being a Legend, and his final arc. And then the kids at the end literally talking about the Legend of Luke. Thought that was great.

Very good Leia moments, but not much "character." Them mentioning Han was good. Not enough Chewie! Haha.

All of this. That cave was so trippy and wonderful. Theres symbolism in it that Im not smart enough to grasp immediately but I cant wait to ponder on it. Anybody have any thoughts to it? It definitely mirrors Luke in the cave on Degobah. her attachment to finding her lineage (possibly the long string of Rey's) and where that ends up isnt anywhere but herself.

lol I missed that. thanks. It makes me love Yodas presence even more

  17. Yeah, that's just silly. I may end up liking this one more than Jedi even when it's all said and done. That'll really depend on more watches.

As a David Lynch fan I was a big fan of the scene of Rey in the dark hole and the meditation scene with her and Luke. Really new ground for Star Wars and I love Rian Johnson so much for that.

I was pretty surprised Leia saw the end of the movie given the (still upsetting) passing of Carrie. How are they going to deal with her in 9? I reckon they explain her passing in the crawl and start with a funeral ceremony that the First Order end up attacking - would get the resistance proper riled up for the finale.

The more we talk about this movie the more it makes me realize how much information was jam packed in this movie. It has to be the most dense of all the films. Theres just so much to unpack. So many characters. So many arcs.

  23. I will say, I was a tad worried for a brief second when Kylo "turned" and killed Snoke. My theater cheered, and I was like "why are we cheering, there's no way he actually turned, right? He just realized he wanted to rule with Rey" ... so I was glad that wasn't what actually happened.

Snoke did die a little too easily though for how powerful he was supposed to be/showed to be on Rey.

Yea, Poe had a lot of material here. Loved it all. The theme of failure is really resonating with me and his story is a great example of how it worked in the film.

I just want Kylo to go full bad. But even he couldn’t kill Leia. There is still light. But in a way that’s how it was to be. There was such a focus of the balance of light and dark and how where there is dark there must be light and vice versa. I think that applies to individuals as well, even on top of them setting up Kylo as dark and Rey as light as his equal. You have both, but to what degree does each exist inside you?

Yea, not much growth for Leia, but she was so good. Her Force scene was so good to me.

I could have done with more Chewie and R2.
