    Things have changed.

She even said "A good question for another time." when Han asked where she got it. Now we'll never know!

I think other than not really liking the casino planet I just think part of why i didnt like it as much was because it felt so rushed. Like, they got there, funny casino bb8 slotmachine scene, they get a parking violation, and get tossed in jail and just so happen upon BDT. Just felt like they tried to get it over with in 20 mins. and I think maybe I wanted more of it now that I think about it.

But like Why couldn't another First Order Ship find a way to move in front of the Resistance ship?

  4. I was in a sold out theater, and we were all very evidently holding back laughter in that scene. A few chuckles got out.

The sub-plot you're referring to was easily my least favorite part of the film. I could have done without it altogether. I was thinking last night that we might as well have left Finn comatose the whole time, not waking up until the end, when his plot would've realigned with the rest of the Resistance.

Idk how to explain it. This just feels like such a misstep in terms of the trilogy. I feel as though nothing was accomplished in this movie

Right, and that's why the suggestion of Phasma being there to conduct an arms deal would have improved it. It makes it more personal for Finn and also could have lead to the reveal that BDT was a planted trap from the start. Could also have revealed that Phasma wanted them to get away with him so that they would tell him their plan, which he would then tell her. Then everything doesn't feel so coincidental and Finn's arc is improved.

Disney, I'm available to do a pass over the final IX script, just get @ me

    So assuming that this weekend...

Can someone give me some input on this thought:

When Finn and Rose sneak aboard the First Order ship, they literally accomplish nothing and are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Resistance fighters. Finn and Rose take Benicio Del Toro's character aboard the ship to disable the tracking device. They fail, and then Del Toro's character sells them out. This results in the FO firing on and destroying numerous Resistance ships. Had they never attempted this, the FO would have never taken notice of the Resistance escape pods heading away from the main ship, and all of those Resistance fighters would have survived. Literally, the Resistance would have been in better shape had they done nothing.

This leads me to my biggest problem with the story's plot: Poe. Poe starts a mutiny, and he is also responsible for sending Finn and Rose out on their mission. At the end of the movie, he faces no punishment and still continues to be Leia's golden boy, despite the fact that so much of what happened to the Resistance's obliteration is his fault. Am I right in being frustrated like this? Is there something I missed?

All that being said, I still really enjoyed the film, and I loved (almost) all of the risks this film took.

also something completely un-movie related so i dont need a spoiler tag, and maybe this was just my experience, but i was SO bummed that my theater was virtually empty. I think my theater purpose layered the showings in such a way that crowds came in and left by themselves. there was no fanfare, i only saw one kid in a kylo costume. there were no lines, i guess thats what assigned seating does. we strolled in at 7:25 for a 7:30 showing. i was hoping for a much more frenzied/excited full theater vibe.

I had no line, but I did see many costumes coming and going. It was a massive theater that had like 20-30 showings all day. Lots of people walking around.

I actually think Holdo is to blame for that. Had she just outlined her plan from the beginning, Poe wouldnt have staged the mutiny. Holdo's motivations were so bizzare. LIke at the end shes like "aw hes dangerous I like him", like, you just held him in contempt for speaking up. What?

Great point. I don't get why she had to be so secret about it. If she had told the crew that was the plan, then everything would have gone smoothly.

I think the utter failure of the Poe/Finn/Rose plan has to do with Poe's arc, that he needed to stop trying to be the big hero and learn to work with his allies to recognize when blindly rushing into things is a poor strategic choice. His arc goes full circle when he orders the retreat at the end. Just my takeaway, though.

Question. In the final scene with Luke, there appeared to me to be a “dot” in the sun as he looked out. I had initially assumed a ship was coming, but then he force ghosted.

I’ve had a few people say they noticed it, too. Anyone have any idea as to what it could be and if there is any significance?

We reach for the longest shadow

The only thing I can reason is that she might have thought she couldn't trust everyone there and wanted to keep it a secret until the last second to not risk someone telling the first order in exchange for their life or something like that.
