It’s insane how often we have the same reaction to minute things.

Woke up still not loving this. But I also can’t shake certain visuals in a good way.

Rey's and Kylo's themes are so good. Classic Star Wars.

When the porg goes splat against the millennium falcon window, loved that moment.

"Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope" :brokenheart:

I feel like this movie doesn't have as much charm as TFA. Going to be interesting to see where they all go from here

I assumed Leia died and saved herself using the force, like how Yoda appeared as a ghost hologram thing at the end and others have done in the saga, except she did it temporarily to save herself. She is related to two people who have used the force, so maybe it developed late as a heredity thing. TLJ and TFA add more to the Star Wars mythos, so this made sense to me. And I was surprised when Snoke was easily defeated by Ren. I kept expecting him to revive himself because of how powerful they made him out to be. He planted the link between Rey and Ren as bait without them realizing it was him. If he’s that strong, how could he be easily distracted? Especially since the lightsaber was wiggling right next to him?! That’s my one major problem with the movie

Agree with a lot of what’s said in this review about the Finn/Rose storyline and Snoke. Also hated the conference call bit between Hux and Poe. But man, really do love the other half.

Also I fucking haaaaaaated the last 20 seconds of this. Worst closing shot of any SW movie. So fucking corny.

Saw it last night. I liked it but a lot of the film felt really odd. I didn’t enjoy the first half all too well. Leia surviving after being sucked into space and Finn/Rose arc were both dumb to me. The Yoda scene was great and the whole sequence of Rey and Ben fighting Snoke’s guards was awesome. I’m guessing Luke died? Of course he’ll be back in some form for episode 9. Overall I just think this film was a bit weird and the last shot of the film was out of place.

Man i disagree, i really loved it. Refreshing message of hope can come from literally anywhere. You dont have to be a descendant of heros or have skywalker blood to matter or tune into the force.

Also, i loved kylo’s conflict throughout, but after the end of this movie, i don’t want to see it anymore. I want him to be a completely unhinged menace. Ben Solo is gone.

I think I buy the story about Rey’s parents being nobodies. The kid who used the force to pull the broom to him was a nobody.

The Leia floating through space thing was terrible, my buddy said maybe hat was Kylo pulling her towards the ship since he didn’t actually fire the missiles at her in the first place but idk.

The casino stuff felt a bit out of place but it was cool to see such a different area.

    Rose was lame.

    Kylo was amazing.

Love the scene but why did Snoke have to die when we barely know anything about him???

Also what if Snoke isn’t dead in some way... yes I know he got cut in half and I think the destroyer blew up BUT at the end of the movie Rey and Ben force link again and Snoke said he was the one doing that the whole time. Just something to think about.

Yoda surprised me and I loved how he looked half prequel half original trilogy lol

    Phasma sucked

The ending wasn’t cheesy it was showing there is still hope and I new set of kids who want to join a rebellion.

Not sure I believe the parents think just yet with Rey.

Everything else I LOVED. Love how Poe was conflicted. Love the space battle scenes where they’re running low. Loved it all. One of my favorites for sure.

There’s more salt on the Internet than there is on Crait over this movie right now and I kind of love it.

    You know what?

I loved the Leia scene. It was great getting to see her use the Force in a powerful definitive way. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye yet to her. It allowed us to at least have one final scene of her and Luke*.

*well, technically they shared a scene. Haha the actors did at least.

While I thought the Leia scene was weird, I think I love it for the same reasons as you.

I think the risk paid off.

Also Luke didn't have red footprints when fighting Kylo, thought that was a great touch.

I at first thought the Leia scene was a misstep but then I realized Johnson was attempting to show that, no, Leia is powerful with the Force as well and had developed some kind of attunement to it in the time between Jedi and TFA. That’s when I realized it was just another of Johnson’s bold decisions that paid off.

I think I have been way more critical just because it's Star Wars. I really do enjoy the fact that I left the theater thinking I was unsure how people would react.
