Loved this film on first time. I hope I'm not the only one who thinks it's the most complex Star Wars film? I need to see it again. So many moving parts

Positive! But there is a lot to process. Need to think about some of the bigger picture stuff.

Also, rumor has it Carrie Fisher was set to play a main role in the VIII. Do they do a hologram similar to rogue one? Or use scenes filmed previously and make it work?

Definitely agree with most of the criticisms posted in here. Still was an enjoyable movie, but I’m gonna have to say that TFA will probably age better than this one. Some random thoughts
    1. Rose was annoying, my least favorite character.
    2. I couldn’t stop thinking about the guy who tweeted that Mark Hamill deserves an Oscar nomination, like what was he on? Luke was a goofball for the most part. But to be fair, It was basically just Mark Hamill being himself.

    3. Empire Strikes Back reigns supreme. Every scene and character played an important part in progressing/telling that story. This felt completely disjointed, with lots of pointless story lines, wasted use of characters.
    4. I also kept on thinking about how Bob Iger has apparently seen this over 6 times cause he loved it so much? And how that baffles me
    5. The film got much better as it went on, so that kept it interesting.
    6. The films high points are very high, but it’s littered with low points, which isn’t helped by adding lame jokes every 30 sec makes it evenI feel like it’s dumbing down the experience and viewer.
    7. Rey was fucking Badass.

  10. Awesome. I’m sure we will have lots of stuff to talk about. Especially the bigger picture stuff. That’s what I’m gonna love about this for two more years. Ha.

Yeah... that’s something I need answered form a novel or the next movie. Someone that powerful and old woulda been around during the Empire and probably before. So seriously who the hell is he?

  12. I’m not sure what they do. But I bet if they knew what they know now, she stays on the ship.

He is clearly not as powerful as he thought he was.

For Star Wars fanatics, was this really an Empire Strikes Back on steroids? Or was it a completely different film in its own right? Sounds dumb. Ive heard comparisons from friends who are way more in tune than I

One day, there will be a film that is literally better than Empire and people will still act like Empire is this infallible thing.

  16. Different film. (And ESB is my favorite movie of all time.)

Honestly, it’s sort of half Empire/half ROTJ/half New

    Too many halves, I know

Screw it im just going to do this now on my phone.

overall my reaction is positive. The first half of the film had me really worried however. I wasn’t falling in love with the film in that first half. I kept trying to convince myself in my mind “no you love this!”, but in my heart I knew that I was super unsure. The second half though, it pulled me in and it was great. Pretty much everything after the casino planet was amazing for me. I there were more than a couple moment in the first half that took me out of the movie.

Leia using the force to get back to the ship was weird as shit. I was so happy when that was over. The part where Ben and Rey started communicating and Rey said “I really don’t want to do this right now”, and he replied “neither do I”, for some reason I really hated that.

I didn’t love that luke just let Rey follow him around doing nothing instead of just sitting down and talking with her. He was frustrating to me. Even if it was an initial conversation where he still wasn’t giving her what she wanted, but him just ignoring her on this desolate island I was like “okay??”.

I LOVED the character development of Po and Rey. I’m hoping Fin gets to shine a little more in the next film. His segment on the casino planet was just unfortunate.

I loved that this was a new story. It seemed so fresh once things picked up.

Personally, I feel like it’s unfair to compare this to Empire. They’re two different film in their own right and play out much differently between each other. I think this was fantastic and despite’s it’s flaws and lows, it kept me guessing until the end while entertaining me at the same time. For that, I think this was a great film and if people don’t think so, more power to them.

You’re missing my point. He literally was saying that he was so powerful that he literally knew everything about Kylo. That he had consumed him and that Kylo was his. And then Ben easily took him out. Not so all powerful now, are we?
I’m already tired of using spoiler tags haha but I can’t say this out in the open yet
