ZA/SUH had me crying, such a pointless sketch and probably my favorite in years

    Blood sketch was the best.

Minus the weird sexual harassment sketch, the front half of this ep had a sort of "classic" feel to it. Just an unimpeachable run of good sketches.

Apparently Leslie was actually struggling not to throw up on live TV, she wasn't acting lol

Wow, I was wondering what was going on with her. I know she’s not the best performer in front of a live audience but yikes.

Leslie throwing up would have just made that sketch even more insane

    Yeah awesome for Che

I'm glad people have come around to those two as the WU anchors, I really liked them from the start

They were admittedly rough at first as they worked out their dynamic live on-air each week. I feel like a lot of people tend to forget that, unlike a lot of past Update pairs, Jost and Che had never worked together beforehand, let alone worked together at SNL. So they didn’t have any pre-existing chemistry. Che was hired and then just immediately put behind the desk, after all.

I will say, though, that they became good before most people decided to finally admit they were. But they’re pretty great now, I’d say.

I rarely ever enjoy a live sketch any more. All my favorite sketches over the past few years have been the pre-filmed sketches. I still enjoy Weekend Update.

I think the last live sketch I really lost it was when Seth McFarlane hosted years ago and they did the puppet sketch where Bill Hader was a veteran and had a puppet that looked exactly like him and he kept talking about his experiences. That and Zach Galifinakis' bidet sketch.

Update has been the most consistently good part of the show for the last two and a half seasons, at least. Jost and Che settling into a fun dynamic and finding their individual voices, combined with some truly excellent character work from people like Strong/Thompson/McKinnon/Jones/Davidson, has put it well above 95% of everything else the show has done in that stretch.

I honestly cannot believe how much Jost has improved.

Poor baby, you're starting to lose it.

I dig Che/Jost-era WU. There's a playfulness there that hasn't been present in a while.

  25. I like that they operate in a much more... I dunno, candid feeling way? Maybe that's not the right word. The performance just feels a lot more informal than it has in the past. Much less "we're doing our best stereotypical news anchor impressions" and much more "lol what the fuck is happening in this world"
