I definitely agree with you on Lucas, I think he lacked the nuance to really explore some of these themes in a compelling way.

One example of an action/adventure series for a wide audience that I think had an incredible villain arc is The Last Airbender... Zuko is my favorite character in that show. Even though it’s a series generally made for a younger audience, it’s made clear that during his time in the Fire Nation, Zuko killed people. He did what he thought was the right thing because of the awful family/environment he was raised in, but eventually he steps into the larger world and realizes the suffering and pain the Fire Nation has caused, and turns toward a different path.

Sometimes I think that can be a really powerful message if done right, that your past mistakes and your heritage don’t have to define you. In my mind it largely depends on the execution.

 

I'm thinking more and more about what I want out of the next batch of films. I think it'd be pretty cool if they were wayyyyy out there and did the Abeloth stuff. That'd be too damn cool. I fell down a wiki hole one night and could not get enough of that story.

 

It’s interesting how these days there’s so many seasons of Netflix shows being binged , like 13 hours of content....and yet someone can say a 2.5 hour movie is too long haha.

 

or the hundreds and hundreds of hours of twitch streams lol

 

yep. my dream is to some day get a really good Star Wars series going with the sort of production value that the films have.

Definitely is canon, it literally deforms individuals.. I mean they are making the choices I guess but it is bringing out the worst in them, they only think with emotion and in the here and now. They are only concerned with power nothing stands in their way, which is why a great person can become evil. Beware of the dark side; is a warning bc it lures force users away from the good.

These movies will show how Jedi must balance both the light and dark in order to live a balanced life and keep the force in balance. That’s what I believe at least.

 

There’s a couple interesting lines in the latest Poe comic from Lor San Tekka about how the light and dark can be used together for balance and whatnot.

 

I don't want to bash the prequels.

Something can be 30 minutes in length and still feel too long if it has poor pacing, to be fair. Though, I personally get excited at a long running time cause often I feel movies are too rushed. But it’s a fair criticism.

 

Frozen short was 21 minutes and felt like an eternity.

The Lord of the Rings (Extended Editions) are 12 hours and fly by for me.

Imagine that this new trilogy came 10 years later as a series instead of as films. I definitely feel the popularity of that format will continue to grow. And epics with huge universes can benefit the most from the format. Would be totally cool if thats where we were headed.

 

I want the series to be knights of the old republic

 

I don’t think it’ll be an adaption if KOTR but I think it will take place way back in the day like that.

I just saw a still image (over a video) shared on facebook by the official Star Wars page (which I thought I had unfollowed) with Rey holding a red lightsaber.

Edit: I did unfollow it, but I guess I still get sponsored ads for it.

 

Had that same thing happen to me on Twitter, oh well.

 

It better just be some badly placed misdirection.

 

It looks like the most recent marketing push by Disney is DON'T LET ANYONE SPOIL THIS plastered over everything (at least on their Instagram page), so that at least gives me hope they won't try to show us too much by the weekend. No if only I can keep my prying eyes away from critic reviews...

The don't let anyone spoil this and then the quick clip/image they show is tone deaf in my opinion
