In 2000, Marvel launched the Ultimate universe, an alternate reality reboot of their universe intended to bring in new readers w/out abandoning their main continuity. This line had its ups and downs, but its biggest home run was its flagship title, Ultimate Spider-Man by Brian Michael Bendis & Mark Bagley. For just over a decade, Bendis wrote an uninterrupted, character-driven retelling of Peter Parker, the iconic teenage superhero. Then, after around 150 issues, he wrote a story that couldn't be done in mainstream continuity: the death of Spider-Man.

Around this time, the Internet pushed for Donald Glover to star in The Amazing Spider-Man. Inspired by this, Bendis & artist Sara Pichelli created a new Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Collected in these 3 volumes is his entire run as Spider-Man in the Ultimate universe. (In 2015, Marvel destroyed that universe & brought Miles into mainline continuity.) This is legitimately one of the best "Spider-Man" runs of any kind. - @Tim

As soon as I started reading Spider-Gwen, I knew there was something special about the character. Earth-65 might not be a "fun" place for Gwen, but it is a fun one to dive into as a reader. Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez did an excellent job creating this whole new world where some familiar faces pop up in new ways. If you haven't read this series yet, you're really missing out on a great treat. I'd recommend this to every comic book reader. - @Deanna

    .
In the miniseries Spider-Men (collected above in Miles' Ultimate Collection Vol 1), the main continuity Peter crossed over to the Ultimate universe and met Miles. After getting home, Peter looked up "Miles Morales" to see if his universe already had a version of him. Then, before this tease could be followed up on... Miles was brought into that world. Thankfully, this story of an alternate Miles still got to be told, in what ended up being Bendis' final tribute to Ultimate Marvel. - @Tim

Can't imagine we'll get much a full year removed from the film's release, but an official title and short teaser showing the animation style and maybe Miles' costume would be great.

I don't like that they're seemingly leaning into Miles being one of many from the start, even though I love that doing so makes a Spider-Gwen appearance before too long not a long shot.

That nitpick aside... This looks FANTASTIC. Some absolutely delightful animation here. I cannot wait for the first truly great Spidey film.

Don't quite know if I like the style but I love that it already has a TON of personality even in just a quick little teaser. Very excited for this.

Surprised a couple people have mixed opinions of the animation. I think it's fantastic. Gorgeous city, stylish action shot, and a lot of personality in his movement. This is totally something I'm gonna have to see in 3d.

Cool, I guess. Not really sold on the animation, but i’ll watch it because Spider-Man. Is this part of the Sonyverse or MCU, or is it doing its own thing?

  16. Yeah, it looks great. Unique and specific to this world. Love it.

I do like the city lights (the street clip looked pretty nice). It’s just the character animation that I’m 50/50 with.

I guess some of it looked... stilted? Jarring? Not sure what word to use. But when he’s walking to the grave, or grabbing the building around the 25 second mark. Just looks a little off to me.

    ...I’m a monster, I’m sorry.

I just finished reading the Miles run today (and really enjoyed it) so this trailer dropping is pretty great timing. This looks awesome, proper loving the art style. I’m definitely interested to see what they do with the story, I’d love to see Gwen and Jessica make an appearance in this too.

I'm still holding out hope for a live action Jessica Drew sooner than later. There are a ton of places she could organically fit into: Silver & Black, a hypothetical Black Widow film, Agents of SHIELD, Jessica Jones, Venom, Daredevil...

Spider-Gwen would be a perfect fit for this animated world, though, as would Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider and Spider-Man 2099. Maybe through in Noir, Spider-Girl, India, Superior... Man, as an avid Spider-fan, I have so much to be excited about here!

I actually really like the art style. It's so vibrant and engaging. Can someone remind me if this is MCU or not? I was under the impression that it was part of the Spider-Man verse for Sony.

Could Spider-Gwen Be Coming to Marvel's Agents of SHIELD?

While two of the characters in that Secret Warriors special are voiced by live action counterparts, Ming-Na Wen also happens to be voicing a villain (not Agent May), so I wouldn't read too much into that. It'd certainly be an awesome surprise, though.

I haven't watched this new season of SHIELD yet, but I'm excited to see how they're using this cool series shake-up. I'm sure the series will continue to be awesome but under watched due to where it started, lol.
