I love the clone wars bc they make anakins turn not seem as sudden

 

Does anyone who's been following closely know some critics/notable people who are for sure going to be at the premiere, and are on Twitter? I'm making a list on Twitter called "TLJ Reactions" so I can see a feed of reactions to the movie once they start coming in, and right now all I have are the Collider people because I'm not sure who's going. Any help is much appreciated!

 

my biggest gripe with the prequels is how theyre filmed. they have the pacing of a soap opera, its all shot reverse shot, the footage is static and the editing is really stale. green screen was definitely a big factor in that.

and lets not kid ourselves here, bad acting/dialogue isnt just exclusive to the prequels. theyre prevalent in the original trilogy and even in TFA but at least theyre interesting and well put together. at least the Clone Wars/Rise Of The Empire era has all of the ancillary material to help make it on par with the original trilogy.

i actually really like Anakin in ROTS, i like a lot of things in ROTS as a matter of fact despite it having quite a few shortcomings.

 

I'm trying to fit in a chronological rewatch before Thursday and I've done the prequels and Rogue One over the last few days. Completely agree on ep III. It was truly pretty horrible. Phantom Menace is not that far off from being a decent film for me, though. Ep II was, for the most part, the slog I remember with a couple decent moments scattered throughout. Going in I probably would have thought I > III > II and it ended up being I >>> II >>>> III

Rogue One didn't do much for me in theaters but I found this second go around a decent amount more enjoyable

 

Ian McDiarmid is my favorite part of ROTS, I think he was great as Palapatine throughout. There are definitely a lot of things that I thought improved in ROTS, even though I do think there’s some of the same shortcomings as the prequels, with the way they’re shot as you mentioned being one of the biggest ones.

 

As an aside I adore Rogue One. As much as I adore the characters of the original trilogy and even the prequel trilogy as well as the new cast in these new films, the main draw for me in the Star Wars universe is the conflicts. The Galactic Civil War and The Clone Wars are both fantastic setups and I wish the Skywalker films went into them a little bit more but I kind of understand why they dont. Rogue One is a great way to see what its like to be in the Rebellion, how utterly unprepared they are to take on the Empire yet using guerilla tactics, clever planning, and a Navy that could actually quite handily go toe to toe with the Empire they can hold their own. The Battle Of Hoth is one of my favorite moments in any of the films and it was really neat to see the AT-ATs again in Rogue One and I love how that battle is filmed, like the AT-ATs are these massive Kaiju that are unstoppable.

 

I need to rewatch Rogue One, tbh I only saw it once and although I did like it a lot, my big critique was that the characters were thinly written imo and weren’t developed much. But I do think it was really cool how they did some different things within the SW universe.

 

I still think the prequels would be kind of acceptable if they were all an hour and a half each. I’ve seen some fan edits that work wonders on those movies.

 

I love Rogue One so much. That battle at Scarif is so good.

Fine by me. I understand that some critics aren’t very discreet, I’m probably only gonna read reactions by the Collider Jedi Council people and a few others who are good with avoiding spoilers. I feel like once the review embargo lifts Tuesday morning though, some people in here will inevitably be talking about the reviews.

 

Yea. I’m trying to stay in the thread and get hyped with everyone but I’m not trying to read spoilers/reviews/etc. Leaving social media tonight.

Imagine Luke Skywalker winning Best Actor... probably won’t happen but I’ll admit I got chills for a bit imagining it haha

 

After the premier, I would go to slashfilm, Da7e, Jowrotethis, Germain Lussier, and that's all the twitter accounts I can think of that are going off the top of my head. I would also just see who is at the premier during the livestream ha or search twitter.

 

Hell just a nomination would be amazing! Would be so cool for Mark Hamill

 

I will host a star wars costume only Oscars party if they are even nominated
