So many people (myself included have said this), starting wonder just how unpopular of opinion that really is. Seems a lot of people think that way. haha

True. I suppose it's kind of the same as saying a band isn't all that good though, and if I said like "Nickelback is overrated" no one would disagree on this website I don't think, so it wouldn't exactly be unpopular. I don't know. Probably just overthought the hell out this. hahaha

 

Saying things are overrated is overrated is overrated, imho.

Brand New isn't good.

They wouldn't have been as special or different and probably wouldn't have been as popular if it hadn't been for the theatrics though. That was a big part of them that was always there and you could even hear it in the music.

That's what I mean though, I don't really care much for someone's opinion if they're put off a band or would make fun of a band because they're theatrical and wear costumes or because it's the cool thing to do without even giving the music a solid listen. I think a similar thing is happening with The 1975 at the moment although probably not on the same scale. It happened with bands/artists like The Cure/Bowie too.

Not necessarily, I've enjoyed a decent amount of pop country I've heard on the radio in the past few years. Luke Bryan isn't bad. Time and place for the music, too

 

It's the only one I can listen to without falling asleep.

 

Man I know we're talking unpopular opinions, but this is kind of insane to me. YFW is easily the most boring Brand New record

 

If you can't stay awake during Daisy you may just need to get more sleep period

 

I should mention that I don't care for brand new. As in, if they never existed, the music world would be a better place.

 

Daisy is overrated lol. There's nothing exciting on there. Any fun moments are followed by alot of boring.

 

I don't care if you like them or any band, but how can you say the world would be better without them? I mean, do you have any idea how many lives that band has impacted? I'm not the biggest fan either, but c'mon.

Nah, they're just not good. Impacting people doesn't mean good music.

Again, who cares whether you think they're good? You're saying the world would be better without a band that's impacted tons of people in a huge way. That's shitty. Not really sure why you feel the need to wish any artist you don't like didn't even exist.

In case you forgot, the thread is titled controversial opinions. That's one of mine, brand new is a useless band.

 

And you apparently haven't read any of the thread at all; the title of the thread doesn't mean you need to make dogmatic, unhelpful statements and then act smug when someone tries to engage you.

 

I think you missed my point, it's ok it was a relatively minor one.
