How Argentina's Baked Goods Reveal Its Political Past

 

So, I was talking to someone who supported Bernie and is really into that style of politics. They also told me they have no idea who Marx or any other prominent leftists are. They said they never even heard of them. What's everyone's opinion on the best way to introduce and ease this kind of thinking with those figures to them? I feel like this person wouldn't want to read a whole long book so maybe not that option?

I personally don’t like recommending the Manifesto as an introduction simply because it’s so connected to the 1848 revolutions which only like 10 people know about. Plus Marx’s writing often makes it hard to pinpoint exactly what he means.

Engels’ “Principles Of Communism” is much more straightforward, and even then I’d much sooner rec a video or more modern summary articles to someone who somehow knows literally nothing about leftist politics lol

I just bought the Manifesto the other day as I'm approaching Part 8 of Capital Vol 1. I know primitive accumulation probably better than any other of Marx's topics though so I'm thinking that section should go by pretty easily, especially with the Harvey lectures.

 

My local chapter (minus me) did the free brake lights fix last weekend. This is one of the many reasons I hate working midnights weekend, and I cannot be involved during that time.

I also need suggestions for any kind of books because it can be quite boring during my shifts.
