Maybe I read your post wrong but Beck did bass and Billy from DEP did drums

No you didn't, thanks for the clarification. Still amazing parts nonetheless! Finding out Billy played drums is amazing. Can't wait for that final show Dec. 27th for DEP.

This is good. Really good. But I could do with some more catchy hooks thrown in there.

Both these albums are great. So is Gore.

Not the biggest SNW fan, or Adrenaline...but otherwise every album is enjoyable.

I dig Gore a lot as well. I always think I’m not crazy about SNW but then I put it on and find myself loving a lot of it.

I think it has great songs (I love A Hole In The Earth), but overall it's sub-par.

Rapture is underrated, and the first 4 songs is the best stretch in their entire discography.

SNW has more than enough gems on it to make it a great record. It feels like the antithesis to what the S/T was doing and I respect the shit out of that. Adrenaline is the only 'tones album I dont like but hey I'm sure it has its fans

I think SNW is the one I revisit the least because that was the time when I was most disappointed with the band. All the behind-the-scenes drama with Chino and Bob Ezrin really colored my view of him for a while there, which sucks because most of the work on that album is some of their most adventurous and daring. It's also sad that that's my view of the last (released) album that Chi played on, because he truly was a special part of the band, both in character and musicianship.

I feel like the S/T to SNW era of Deftones is viewed much more favorably in retrospect than it was in real time. I recall being somewhat disappointed when each of those came out, and it seemed like many fans felt the same.

I think SNW has retroactively gained favor among fans while S/T has slipped for most. Which kinda bums me out cause while I can see the problems with it, the songs that crush on S/T are among the best in their catalog. The first time I heard "Bloody Cape," I felt like I had been knocked into another room. The stretch between these two albums, though, is when their live show really began to suffer in quality, but that's a conversation for another thread haha.

I had a convo with my roommate once where we made each album as different historical periods. Like ST was the dark ages and SNW was the Renaissance and DE was industrial. It was kinda out there but actually really worked

    Love me some SNW.

Edit: As for the S/T, It has a few of my all time favorites like Hexagram and Minerva, but I think it has obvious flaws.

I haven't stopped playing Material Control either. Supposed to be playing Christmas music at my job, but f that.

I almost stopped reading at “abstract skronk”(???) but I have similar thoughts on the record. But I also view it more favorably than Ian does
