Chorus.fm Members EOTY Lists 2017

Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by Jason Tate, Dec 2, 2017.

  1. Here's a place for everyone to share their EOTY lists for 2017.

The Chorus.fm website contributors are hard at work at our own lists and we plan, like we did on AP.net, to post and share these on the website in early January. We will also have a special episode of Encore around the end of the year for the hosts to talk about their top 10.

Hope everyone had a great musical year and I can't wait to read all everyone's lists.

Here's the 2017 Albums thread if you need some memory refreshing on what you listened to last year.

I can do this instead of my finals, right?

Actually ranking this might be more stressful.

Still waiting for N.E.R.D. and Brockhampton. After that's out, I'm done with new releases for the year.

    Someday I’ll find me Prestigious

My list will be short this year, but it always is. Just a top 5 that stand out, and still deciding on what I should do with my thoughts on some stuff.

A couple of days to think it over, and I think my top five is in no particular order, except for maybe to top one actually being my favorite.

Manchester Orchestra - A Black Mile to the Surface
Julien Baker - Turn Out the Lights
    Paramore - After Laughter
    Taylor Swift - Reputation
    ----- --- - ------- -------

One of which I don't know if I will ever listen to again, but to pretend it didn't play a huge role in the year is dishonest of me. I went through variations of how to make up my five without it, and I simply wanted it represented, while being clear that I support the victims, not the abuser, and hope for recovery and reconciliation for all as far as it can be had. We're living in a historical shift of culture, and I hope we all take it seriously.

there's probably at least a dozen albums I still haven't listened to, might just do a best of so far

    1. The Used- The Canyon. Everything else sucks.

I’ll put my list in a bit. I’m looking forward to a few things but I think my top 20 is pretty solidified and probably won’t change unless there’s a surprise release. Do we list songs, as well?

The Maine is 1000% my #1. Menzingers and Lorde are back and forth for my 2 and 3.

I tend to not finalize my list until later in the month, but I have a pretty good idea of what it will end up looking like. I'm excited to see everybody's lists and hopefully discover some things I missed!

    1. Julien Baker, 'Turn Out the Lights'

(Gap here between Julien and everyone else)

    2. Enter Shikari, 'The Spark'
    3. Weezer, 'Pacific Daydream'
    4. Phoebe Bridgers, 'Stranger in the Alps'

(Pretty significant gap here between those three and everyone else)

    5. Slaughter Beach, Dog, 'Birdie'
    6. Manchester Orchestra, 'A Black Mile to the Surface'
    7. The Classic Crime, 'How to Be Human'
    8. Andrew Belle, 'Dive Deep'
    9. Sorority Noise, 'You're Not As ____ As You Think'
    10. '68, 'Two Parts Viper'

Honestly, the new music may have been the legit best thing about this year. I don't know if it means everything sucks or the music was really good, but nonetheless, it's the truth.

Gonna say this again so i don't have to repeat it later, Run the Jewels was LAST YEAR.

Just because you people did your lists too early last year doesn't mean you can count an album that came out in 2016 as a 2017 album

  19. Trying to get my little write ups done this year before I actually rank. I've got an AOTY and after that just some general "tiers"

I will add more a more comprehensive list soon (still need to check out just two more that I haven't yet), but there's no way these albums aren't my top 3. These are in no specific order:

    - Katie Ellen: Cowgirl Blues
