@bradsonemanband and I have made our picks for each other.

I am going to be listening to:
    'Til Tuesday - Voices Carry
Frank Sinatra - In The Wee Small Hours

    And I gave him:
Seahaven - Reverie Lagoon: Music For Escapism Only
The Sounds - Dying To Say This To You

@ImAMetaphor glad you dug Bad Bad Hats. I can't stop listening to it. I think it sounds a little like Alvvays but with a more pop punk attitude, so if you listen to them maybe that's why it sounds familiar. That's always what I've thought anyway. But yea you explained well why I love it. And I'm glad you at least have listened to Graceland now even if you're not completely in love. FWIW, I didn't fall in love with it first listen.

Listening to both Sufjan Stevens (Seven Swans) and St. Vincent (Strange Mercy) was interesting because they're both artists who I've heard later album(s) from, so it was cool hearing some of their earlier work.

On Sufjan: I like that it's more laid back. It reminds me more of Carrie & Lowell than Illinois or Age of Adz, which was nice. In he Devil's Territory was a highlight, and Sisters made me say holy shit. I'm glad I got a chance to listen to this one. He's such a gifted songwriter.

On St Vincent: there were some really great tracks on here. Cruel and Strange Mercy were highlights. I like how Strange Mercy changed the pace a little from the songs that preceded it. It's a very interesting record and I feel like there's a lot of layers going on. I'm excited to listen more, because I feel like there will be new things to hear every time. She's a very unique talent.

Sufjan grabbed me a little more immediately(probably because I'm already familiar with him), but I'll definitely be returning to both of these albums. Thanks for the recommendations!

You will be pleased to hear I have begun listening to As Cities Burn- Come Now Sleep as my job search/application soundtrack.

    Maybe so, maybe not.

I am not even remotely religious but oh my goodness, the "cause he is the looorrrrrrdddddddd" crescendo in "Seven Swans" is one of the most incredible moments in Sufjan's career and he has a LOT of amazing moments in his music.

I love listening to it as a whole. I was so impressed at how leveled the album was and well structured. It was nice that one of the bands from that scene were really trying to make an album, not a bunch of songs.

  11. Can we post our thoughts before the weekend? Like, if I listen to these new ones right now, can I post my thoughts right after? Or will that throw off the groove too much?
