It's paradoxical to imagine a universe in which LP5 and TDAG exist in anything less than parallel quality.

 

Had a dream last night that Brand New dropped 5 new LP's on us at once. I forget the titles and track names but they were really cool. There's something wrong with me lol

 

Brand New puts out really good albums

Brand New put out a boring album, an okay album, a pretty good album, and a really good album. (in that order) This probably belongs in the unpopular opinions thread, but I would not put Brand New as a top tier band by any stretch. I think a lot of bands are just a lot better. That being said, if they continue the trend of getting better each release, LP5 has potential to be a masterpiece. But I don't know after 6-7 years of nothing.

For me Deja Entendu was never the same once somebody (I think Jason Tate) pointed out Jesse is basically doing his best Morrissey impression. I don't dislike it, but it added a layer of non-seriousness to the record that I haven't really been able to listen past since.

 

If all of The Devil and God were as good as it's best songs, I think it would be a contender for best album ever. But half of it is so whatever, I rarely make it through the whole album. I think the album would have been better if they didn't scrap so many of those demos over the leak. I enjoy those more than I enjoy half of the final product. I feel like Daisy is their most consistent album, but it still has Be Gone that kind of throws it off. I don't think Brand New has an album as consistently great as per say, most JEW albums

Be Gone is one of the better songs on there though!

 

I know my opinions are unpopular with Brand New, but I feel like you're the only person who thinks that. haha It's hard to put a song that is a minute and a half of weird production effects as top tier for any album, let alone Daisy.

 

I don't know, that guitarwork is pretty legit.

I like it too, but is it one of the best songs on Daisy?

 

A run of the mill pop punk album, an album that's only ok and has aged terribly, an album that's half outstanding and half filler, an album that's enjoyably weird

 

I think lyrically DaG and Deja are my favorites. Musically it's probably Daisy, with DaG right at its heels, some days surpassing it. As overall albums, probably DaG; Daisy can be difficult to sit down and listen to all the way through, and if I'm shuffling my library, I'm more likely to skip a song or two from Daisy than DaG.

And Your Favorite Weapon also exists.
