if their post had been all dude bands (as the vast majority of such lists tend to be tbh), would you have openly wondered why they happened to list all dude bands and demanded their reasoning for selecting those bands over others?

the fact that you immediately are skeptical that someone would make a list of all women fronted bands because they are good bands and not "just because they're women" points to sexist motivations

Reading the John Lasseter stuff now on THR. Why is it so hard for men to not be absolute shit? And why people even dare to ask why we should list more female /non-binary lead bands?

 

The new Sorority Noise is so good. Also still digging the last Menzingers album.

 

New Hussey is fantastic.

 

I like that Sorority Noise record but it felt crazy front-loaded to me. First 5 songs or so are incredible but that back half didn't do much. Joy Departed still kills though.

 

Leave the Fan On is on the back half tho...

 

Menzingers is easily my AOTY but this year has been insane. Soroity Noise and Paramore will easily find themselves in my top 10. I only just listened to Pheobe Bridgers and still need more time with Julien Baker so maybe I am being presumptions with my list.

Daughter, Half Waif, Courtney Barnett, Now, Now, Tancred, and Dazey and the Scouts along with the obvious Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers are all artists I’ve been listening to recently. I also saw Pronoun open for Turnover a few days ago, really liked them.
