I don't remember exactly what the chain is but I'm pretty sure he is under contract by a production agency (or whatever it's called) that is owned by Amazon. That doesn't have to be a problem (see GameInformer), but it doesn't put him in the best position to start throwing payola stones.

Game Criticism Had Problems Long Before Dunkey Made a Video About It

Patrick Klepek wrote this piece about his video back when it happened. He then talked about it on the Waypoint podcast, where he added the information about Amazon.

It might be wrong (but I trust Klepek's thoroughness), I might even be remembering it wrong (don't think so), but that doesn't negate the rest I said at all. It's a ridiculous, played out, toxic, gamergate level accusation at a compaby that has definitely more layers of accountability than any YouTuber in the world. In fact, the only relevant places where positive coverage is actually being bought without anyone trying to even hide is are YouTube and Twitch.

 

If he was producing content for Amazon or making specific videos promoting a product, you would have firmer ground to stand on with it.

 

My god, it’s 2 in the morning and I’m arguing about the validity of a guy who makes YouTube videos about games. This is my life.

Glad this guy is still making videos, his MLP videos were hysterical. Got a Ren and Stimpy vibe to his work.

 

I called out his dumb video before I ever heard about the Amazon thing. His little offhand comment about IGN payola in a video that shits all over traditional games media (the video is full of holes by the way, it's so bad) is such an obvious dog whistle towards the gamergate crowd that likes to hang around on YouTube. If that's the hill you choose to die on, have fun. If you ask me, the moment he did this, his content started coming with a caveat, which is why I don't agree with the "like what you like, who cares" or "it's funny" sentiment when it comes to Dunkey's content.

Also "you would have firmer ground to stand on" lmao like ground built on delusions IGN payola accusers stand on.

So uh... Is Saints Row 4 any good? Downloading it while at work rn (thank you Games Pass)

 

YES. For this entry in particular (and Gat out of Hell) think of it less as a GTA knockoff and more as a superhero simulator. I personally loved the humor, but I'm sure it's not for everyone. At the very least, you should enjoy all the crazy guns and abilities that become available to you as you progress through the game.

 

Yeah I saw some gameplay and definitely will not be calling it a GTA knockoff, looks like a game that doesn't take itself too seriously and knows how to have fun. I'm sure I'll at least get a good 10-12 hours out of it

 

Wolfenstein 2 is at time ridiculous hard. I find myself dying a lot.

Also, I got lost like almost every level. Like I kill everyone and then there's no apparent path to progress so I end up running around in circles looking for the random door I missed.

 

I finished Wolfenstein: The New Order and the Old Blood this weekend. Absolutely loved TNO, was an incredibly fun game, and was easily one of my favorite FPS games of late.

The Old Blood was a pretty big letdown. Too many stealth sections, and it wasn't as enjoyable for me. I'm excited to pick up The New Colossus this week.

I started South Park: TFBW last night and it is absolutely fantastic so far.

To the JRPG fans: I've heard several people that already have a copy Xenoblade Chronicles 2 say that it is amazing.

 

Who is selling it early? ;(

 

Is this new Valkyria game being made by a different team than Revolution?

 

From what I've heard, I think it's the same team that did Valkyria Chronicles 1. We can only hope at least
