I'm ancient. But I remember your username from back then. I have a photographic memory to weird stuff like usernames, I don't expect people to remember me though.

I was around on the old site a bit. I guess that makes me new here. Super into the scene and then wife and kids and the whole 9 yards. I guess Science Fiction brought me back out only for this sucker punch from Lacey.

it'll never not seem weird to me when people use just last names. guess that's something that growing up in an army family will never quite shake

In my case it's a baseball thing. I promise the ass slapping was consensual.

It kind of got passed by, so I’d like to address the previous post regarding insane fucking Morrissey. I love the Smiths but holy fuck you to that guy for that victim blaming bullshit he said. Take your throwback album and age quietly out of the spotlight please.

I missed this, what did he say? I too love his work, but he can be a pretentious douche.

caracara reminds me of a bit of adjy and jouska as well, more lo-fi than a lot of the bands mentioned above

also members of caracara are in the post-rock jazz percussion ensemble square peg round hole, you might like them @primavera

Don't eat animals or you're the scum of the earth, but assault a kid and it's fine. Thanks Morrissey you goofball idiot

Eating meat is rape of the soul, but actual rape and assault isn't anything. Makes sense.

I don't visit the thread for like 4 days and come back to see that things have somehow managed to get even worse. Impressive.

I'll echo some sentiments that I've seen back in the thread from Jason that I'm pretty disappointed in folks like Kevin Devine and the band members for not doing more or saying more, they had to know. This whole thing is a bummer

Japanese Breakfast and Phoebe Bridgers are both frontrunners for AOTY for me. Honestly been sleeping on some smaller releases this year and haven’t had a lot of exposure to some releases by LGBTQ folks, myself.

Also lol this is shameless but I don’t really care all that much atm...

I am a queer transgender woman and have been frequenting AP/Chorus for almost a decade now and I play guitar in a band called “mineral girls.” I’m also not the only queer member in the band, for the record, but that’s besides the point. If you want to support the endeavors of a member of this site AND someone at the intersection of womanhood and queer/transness, maybe give our newest record a shot. I’ve been told it’s a grower.

Yknow, I've been thinking a lot on this lately, and I'm not sure it's a 100% guarantee that his bandmates had to know. I feel like we all have friends we don't know everything about, or even family members that you've lived under the same roof with your entire life. I'm still learning new shit my sisters did growing up and my parents sure as shit keep getting shocked by new revelations of dumb things we did as kids (emphasizing that I am NOT comparing dumb, childhood shit to being a predator)

I'm not saying examples such as those are even remotely comparable to this fucked up, unforgivable situation, but my point is that when someone is ashamed enough to hide something, they'll go to lengths to keep loved ones from knowing.

I feel completely betrayed by Jesse, and am still so angry about it all, but I don't know if I feel right condemning his bandmates. Idk, it's tough, and maybe there's more to it than I'm seeing or feeling, such as what life is like on the road in a band.

I mean Jason has said that the information that people close to the band have emailed him that they actually did know about it so like I have to believe that they did in fact know.

  25. I was referring to the claims that this all happened a long time ago and that they may not know about the harassment.
