Honestly though I’m not sure what I’d pick as the best consoles and then it’d be incredibly subjective because I didn’t own all the consoles

 

None of these games have been made by Sony. The reason they are only on PS is because Japan is too important for those games to justify a Xbox version. That's it. No reason to pat Sony on the back for that. I specifically pointed out that they get great third party "exclusives".

Regarding the first part: that's my point. Unlike regular publishers however, Sony doesn't rely on software sales of their own games, they get most of their money from the cut they get from third party game sales, which is why I'm especially dissapointed (which isn't even the right term, I explained my thoughts more accurately above) with them for taking the "easy" way as often as they do. This goes for Microsoft too, but like I said I like Gears and Halo mainly for gameplay reasons, which is why it is my "preferred platform" of the two. Like I said I'm not too hot on both of them right now.

if i had to pick one system to play for the rest of my life, it'd be the 3DS. it's own library alone is just overflowing with great games, throw in the DS library and it is untouchable. and if i can have a flashcart or homebrew? game over

 

Unpopular gaming opinions are fun to me.

I think the Mordor games and the two and a half new Wolfenstein games are, at their core, very mediocre. They're the Bioshock Infinite's of this gen.

I'd share the Ian Bogost article again but people will get mad at the headline again and won't try to understand what he's trying to say.

all I remember about the Mordor game I played was the story was boring and not even podcasts could save it.

Plus it had the worst ending.

 

i agree with the Mordor games. i picked up SoM GOTY for $8 and I'm glad i didn't pay more. it's fun but so repetitive.

the biggest con to Mordor is that the entire map is a big enemy base, essentially. there is no real exploration to be had, just fighting your way from mini-map location a to mini-map location b

Not all critisicm of a specific company is fanboyism or console war propaganda.

I loved my 360 and want to love my Xbone, when I complain about Microsoft not putting out games it's just because I want to play cool games for the console I own, not because I want to say how much cooler Sony is.

Also yeah the Mordor games aren't very good. Bioshock Infinite is ace though.

i can't imagine being beholden to a company for any reason. i have an iPhone, a Galaxy tab and a Windows PC. have purchased a Switch and an Xbone and will have the PS4 in a week.

 

I go where the good shit is.

 

I gravitate to Sony, but mainly because it's the system that's always had the games I've wanted the most. I always end up buying all the systems, but the Xbox tends to be the most ignored, especially this generation since the friends who want to play with me are on PS4 and there haven't been any exclusives for it that I've really had to have.

Don't really care about preferring one system over another, just give me fun games to play and I'll buy the system, like I did with the Switch.
