It was one of my favourites the year it came out. Still love it.

 

Yeah, I met Jesse multiple times and he was always a super nice guy. So, clearly that personal anecdote thing doesnt work haha

 

someone can be a nice person and we can celebrate that without having it get in the way of condemning people doing horrific things. talking about someone now doing nice things is good, as i said, unless people use that as a way to deny or doubt that allegations could happen

No idea. I've heard they've talked to "journalists." But I don't know.

 

I saw 14, 15, and I think two at 16.

 

They definitely could have handled that post completely differently and did well to keep a level head.

 

I never checked ONTD or gawker or livejournal at all back in the day and only statted using tumblr in like 2011. I can't imagine all the things I missed by not taking an interest in scene gossip.

He sampled Seatbelt in one of his songs, I can't remember which one though.

 

Interesting to know. Won’t make his stuff any easier to listen to however, even though I’m enjoying it so far.

 

It's not my usual type of music by any means, but it's intriguing, although depressing to listen to, especially today.

 

I didn’t even know ‘emo-rap’ existed haha.
Considering how he went out, his songs are definitely sending signals.

 

"Emo-Rap" has been around for a while. Pretty sure it started with Atmosphere's Lucy Ford EPs and the God Loves Ugly album. Could be wrong on that, but that's when I remember the term first being used.

 

He samples a lot of artists from this scene. The Story So Far, Underoath, Real Friends, Pierce The Veil, Avenged Sevenfold, Better Luck Next Time, Death Cab.

 

Fair enough. There’s not many who sounds like they could have come from the early-00’s ‘emo’ scene though.

 

I remember stuff similar to this brought up even in the old site, there were LOTS of stuff like this on tumblrs but always got shrugged it off as people making shit up. I understand that it's hard to believe in anonymous posts like that back then, but it did raise some real red flags. This has been looming for at least 10-11 years now.

The first one was 15, second one was 14 and the third one I saw was 17. Then there's the fourth one from the Pitchfork piece. The first one denounced on the Diaz post, the second one on the post that Brand New posted itself and then the third one showed up on the Diaz post too, with a very long livejournal post detailing everything.

Not that I wasn't livid with the first denounce, but the second one on the Brand New's post was the one that almost made me cry in anger. Still have the post of that woman stuck in my head.

EDIT: I'm not even sure if this info is relevant, but there might be a fifth one that replied to the second one on the Brand New's posts. It was an ambiguous post and I'm not sure if there are journalists looking for victims to speak up and tell their stories, but those are the ones I'm aware of.

Where in the world are people getting the ideas that everything against Jesse is false? Like I was just scrolling reddit on my phone (I guess BN stuff still shows up in my feed) and all of these people were saying shit like "oh well now that we know none of these accounts are credible" I just do not understand it. Like what type of shitty detective work did they do to come to that conclusion after Jesse admitted to it?

 

It's very easy to convince yourself of something you desperately want to believe.
