Yeah she's cool. I'm not great with her but I want to be because I feel like that wall will really help in a lot of situations.

It's been fun coming home from work and really wanting to play a game. Been a while. Definitely sticking with my Overwatch preorder. Mostly play as either Tracer or Widowmaker. Plan to eventually play more.

Tracer is my favorite. I thought she was not that great of a character at first but after some practice I've gotten really good with her. Also I've been having fun playing as Winston and Pharah lately. I really like how fun each character is in they're own way. I never feel bad about having to fill a role.

I'm trying to go through at least one full match with every character to give them all a shot before I start focusing on favourites.

    Fun must be always. Prestigious

I just wanted to play a quick game between the Sharks game and I went 18 kills with 5 deaths. I had two 5 kill streaks and my dragon skill killed 9 people.

    Woo. Hanzo for life.

It's also amazing how quick these games are. 8 minutes and boom back to some hockey.

I followed this game up in my next game going a perfect 10 kills and no deaths.

Kills in overwatch are just assists right?

A lot of them are. You get eliminations as long as you did some damage before they get killed. Your stats at the end also tell you how many final blows you did and also solo kills.

My goal this weekend is to play as much Overwatch I can in between beating Uncharted 3.

D.Va is my boo. First time in a match, I got a 22 kill streak with her. That self-destruct feature is like an atom bomb, totally great for crowd control. I think she's going to be my main from now on.

Nothing more fun than boosting your mech into a crowd of people and getting all of em with the explosion.

    Play the Yakuza series

Winston is so much fun to use even though his abilities can feel a bit underwhelming at first. Got a POTG by using his ultimate though and knocked two people off the map haha.

Oh man, I honestly wish I could be a fly on the wall in the rooms of the people I did that too. Especially when they try to protect the payload.

  19. I haven't touched the Overwatch beta yet. Someone talk Skullgirls with me

Ms. Fortune is also definitely more technical than I thought at first glance, if only because I have to keep track of where her head is and whether I want it on haha. Got a feel for her moves in the training room, will probably do her story next.

For my other Steam fighting games, I feel like the rosters for SFIV and MK9 are too huge for me to really go this in depth with the characters and feel like I'm really getting a hang of the game, not to mention a lot of them are, for example, spin-offs of Ryu and Sub Zero. The thing about Skullgirls I like a lot so far is there are only a handful of characters in comparison, and they're all so distinct and interesting. Like, I'm not compelled to play Cerebellum at all, same as I don't find playing Zangief appealing in the slightest, but just the concept of her character, or rather, all the characters, are really cool, and I'm not as drawn to the characters in SFIV and MK9 in the same way.

I'm definitely seeing a trend of going from "Oh cool that's an interesting character design let's button mash and see how she does" to "oh this character's got an interesting feel, I think I'll take a closer look" to "oh, she's actually really technical, I have to put a bit more thought into how I approach this character." The intriguing character designs and the unique playstyles really draw me in and make me want to invest in the game, going through the story modes and finding interesting team match-ups for arcade, etc.

Sort of broadening the scope of the conversation now to games in general, my friend was talking about how a lot of people who first start out playing Magic: The Gathering are drawn in because of the simple question "What's your favorite color?" which then leads into a discussion of Planeswalkers, like for example, this is Jace, this is what he does, so basically this is what blue does, and so the person is already drawn in by their personal connection with blue and Jace and everything, before even getting into game mechanics. I think that's what I'm saying Skullgirls has over SF and MK.

edit: perhaps also, too, SF and MK are such long-running franchises, with film/TV/YT adaptations of their stories, so a lot of that work is already done for them.

My breadth of knowledge on SG from my time with it is that it's very good, but i don't know enough about fighters to go in-depth on it.

My only worry right now with Overwatch is longevity and how one sided solo queue games can turn out.

Downloaded that Battleborn Beta a few weeks ago and deleted it within about 30 minutes. I was confused though because I thought it was supposed to be made from Blizzard. Well now I got that Overwatch beta and I'm confused no more. Strange how it's close to being the same game, but on the fun-meter Overwatch kills Battleborn.

Never played a Battlefield game in my life, but now that I've finally jumped off the COD train, if this game has an old school setting, I am all in on it.

    Can't wait for the reveal.

  24. I played a decent amount of competitive Counter-Strike so that's really my only comparison even though I know they're not quite the same, but with games like that it's obviously always better if you have a team of people you know on voice chat, but still plenty fun just solo queuing. I'd imagine Overwatch will be even more fun for that, since it's a much less serious game, and matches don't take nearly as long.
