What IS the story behind it?

 

Travis came in the studio one day and Feldmann told him to go in and play a beat at whatever time signature, and when he did they played back the track and when it ended he said "is that really it?" He had no idea it was so short.

I know we talk a lot about songs where Skiba is going to absolutely kill it but are there any old blink songs you feel like...man, it was just better the way it was? I was listening to "I Miss You" earlier and Tom's voice is so distinct on there I can't imagine another vocalist doing it that well. Agree/disagree? Any other tracks you may feel this way about?

 

There's songs I don't think Matt works as well on as others. That being said, every video I've seen of Matt live, I enjoyed it more than any Tom performance I've seen in a decade. Literally the only thing I missed that Tom did was the messing around on guitar at the end of "I Miss You." I'm all in on Skiba with blink.

 

As much as Skiba is a great fit, I don't want to hear any Tom-only songs on this tour sung by him. Stuff like Feeling This works but Reckless Abandon feels more like a cover.

 

I would much rather hear Skiba sing Tom-driven songs than hear the current Tom DeLonge sing them.

 

This happened two or three times when I saw them live, specifically with "Always," I thought it sounded pretty bad. Granted, I'm sure Matt has sang it many more times since then and could be better

 

I love Tom's outros on I Miss You so much. The amount of hours I've spent watching live vids and just skipping to the outro is pretty embarrassing probably. (I got pretty good at judging where to click though!). The thing about Matt is that he seemed to be playing everything note for note as in the recorded version which is understandable of course but not quite as entertaining.

 

I think he'll get more comfortable with that, totally understandable coming in to the band new like that. Either way, blink is actually capable of recording a live performance now, something that couldn't even be an option for years and years lol.

Last thing I saw was that Blizzcon performance and it is just hard to get through.

I always found toms horrible vocals has part of his charm live, and during the Atlanta Honda Civic your a couple years ago he wasn't too bad. That being said, Skiba is the better singer and I have avoided videos of him singing toms parts I look forward to hearing his take

The first drum part of the video? That's definitely the end of the intro and beginning of the verse of "Dumpweed". Not sure what the second clip is, but it could just be the last chorus/outro of "Dumpweed" as well.
