    Fun must be always. Prestigious

I didn’t think the PnB remix of Unforgettable would give the song second life on the radio.

    It is prettt decent also.

It’s also weird to hear so many Post Malone songs on the radio right now.

This has been my weekly radio talk.

I feel like I should give his previous album a listen first, true or false?

Been listening to The Roots nearly every day for the last couple months. I’m finally warming up to Game Theory; it has some great tracks that I didn’t really notice before.

    R.I.P.

Maybe it is time to reevaluate the place drugs hold in a lot of contemporary rap music.

There’s a quick video someone grabbed from a friend’s IG story and he looks OD’d in it.

I don't think it will matter that much what order you listen in, but you should definitely listen to K.R.I.T. Wuz Here and Return of 4Eva.

    Live From The Underground
and Cadillactica are good too, but the new one and those other two are essential.

True, but a certain glorification of drug use (beyond weed that is) has increased heavily and wasn't that much of a thing at some point. The following is heavily oversimplified but it is observable:

    80s: Don't do drugs.
90s: I have to sell drugs and it's bad.
    00s: I sell drugs and I'm a badass.
10: I "like" using drugs for fun.

I did not come up with this myself, I have seen rap writers and so on make this observation too.

I'd say it is worth thinking given all these drug abuse related deaths. There has been some pushback after Pimp C died but it evaporated.

It's not glamorization to rap about your lived experiences. Peeps music was down as hell, he was very clearly depressed and so he used drugs. Clear as day to see, not really glamorizing for someone to use drugs to combat depression, it's just a common thing people do and Peep did it. The problem is so much bigger than rap.

I'm not talking about him. And there are certainly rappers that just talk about their experience with drugs, but glamorization is also happening in some instances. Let's drop it though. You're also right though, it's a much broader problem.

The problem is MUCH bigger than rap, but I think @The Lucky Moose brings up an interesting point regarding the way people talk about drugs in rap songs in general.

Also, @sophos34, I'm just now reading your post in the Lil Peep thread too, and I 100% understand where you're coming from. Peep's music was obviously different, and probably even helped a lot of people to cope with depression and addiction.

That's very Eminem-ish. I hadn't paid a lot of attention to him but that's very interesting.

Yeah I want to make it clear that I'm not talking about Peep. It's just something I thought about again because another rapper died because of drugs and it is a shame.

Music isn't the problem. The culture's attitude towards mental health and drug abuse and depression and addiction is the problem. Dude was popping a ton of Xans, clearly off of it on IG videos and was basically known for it. Shit, we have a 15-16 year old kid out now literally called "Lil Xans". Drugs as a coping mechanism is in every facet of society. We expect him to get fucked up but would be weirded out if he sought some form of treatment. Turn a blind eye until something like this happens, then we blame the drugs or the music as if the calls for help aren't literally everywhere within the dude's persona.

It's not glorification, it's a realistic depiction of how people deal with depression and anxiety. Finding it humorous, as most people did, to watch Peep all fucked up on IG or dropping bars into his mouth and missing is pretty horrifying, though.

I mean, I get that a lot of artists are talking about thing in a way now that doesn't necessarily glorify their drug use, or polygamy, or whatever, but criticizes that lifestyle and explores their struggle. Nonetheless the time line that @The Lucky Moose posted isn't inaccurate.
