I never really got into thrice, I was a huge thursday fan and I didn't care for the comparison to them.

I listened to The artist in the ambulance yesterday as that's the only album from them I've ever listened to. any recs on where to start with them?

It’s really hard for me not to say start with Beggars, as it’s one of my favorite albums ever. Though most people would probably say start with Vheissu

it's a problem tbh. im at the school library right now. yesterday i was here for four hours and got nothing done. Like, I'm always lazy and apathetic about school, but it's been extra bad this semester.

    Beggars.

But just go forward from Artist. It's interesting to see their progression. To be honest, they are one of my favorite bands, but Beggars is the only album I love through and through

Forgive me if this has been mentioned already or if the joke is no longer funny. I’m way behind.

Probably Vheissu, but their stretch from Vheissu through Beggars is top notch

I was a terrible student in high school and college.

high school I almost didn't graduate on time due to always ditching my AP Government and AP Econ classes. I had like 40 + absences for those. but I passed because I did good on the tests and enough of the homework, the Vice principal told my mom that "if he can pass an AP class without going to class I'm not going to stand in his way" haha I got lucky

college took me like 7 years in school to get my degree ( I was working and living on my own with my girlfriend so we had bills to pay)

I was just always the best procrastinator and school work was easy to me most of the time I just didn't put forth the effort.

if I could redo my life my #1 thing would be finishing school as fast as possible, seeing all these young people in my job making the same amount of money as I am but with no wives/kids/responsibilities really makes me regret that. I could have had another 3 or 4 years into my career at this point.

I think I've made this recommendation before, but you could start with their live album Anthology, which spans their discography, see what songs you like on there and then check out the albums that those songs come from. They're my favorite band, and Vheissu is my favorite record of theirs, but I don't think they have a bad album. Major/minor would probably be my least favorite, but even that has some great songs. And, depending on how you feel about overtly religious lyrics, some pretty good ones, but personally the lyrics ruin some songs for me.

good to know. I'm more of an album listener so I'll probably just go in order. more religious than BN? because most of the time I don't care for religious lyrics but BNs were more clever or something so I was able to like them even as a lazy atheist/ agnostic.

I like Beggars best and that’s probably where I would have someone start. It’s very straightforward and is a good place to move forward and back from to get the full picture and understand them as songwriters. Go backwards from there and things will be a little more experimental. Go forward from there and things tighten up and get really clean.
