Just watched Ghostwatch last night and found the WNUF Halloween Special because of it. Thanks for the rec!

 

What's up with the lack of availability of Dawn Of The Dead (1978)? I've never seen it and it seems to be completely out of print and only available at jacked up prices from resellers

Just got back from seeing Green Room. What a brutal brutal film. Comes in close contention with The Witch for best of the year for me so far.

 

I plan on seeing it this weekend. Looking forward to it

 

The casting was pretty great. Patrick Stewart made for a very entertaining villain. The way the violence is treated in the film reminded me a lot of the later Croenenberg films, a la History of Violence or Eastern Promises. Gruesome, but not gratuitous. Just so matter of fact.

 

WNUF is so cool, mainly due to the fake ads. Like, the level of commitment to making individual commercials for each break is something to behold. The best part is that many of them are pretty legit looking and if I didn't know I was watching a movie, it could've fooled me.

 

If I recall, it has something to do with the rights holders just not wanting to play ball by re-releasing it. @irthesteve might be able to give some insight to it. Arrow ran into that problem back when they released it on Blu Ray for the first time, they only had it for a limited time and have yet to get them back to reprint it.

It's a long, complicated one that boils down to liscensor issues

 

the Why Horror? documentary is pretty excellent

 

Thoughts?

 

Eh.. it doesn't look bad, but that trailer doesn't leave much to the imagination. I'll wait for reviews to come in.

Last Broadcast? I haven't seen it but Ghostwatch is mentioned in the same sentence 99% of the time.

I've been wanting to write something in the same vein, but takes place during one of those Dateline murder mystery episodes and them boom, all of a sudden the killer for the open case they're talking about comes in.

Or even a documentary style movie talking with the survivors of Camp Crystal Lake, then having Jason show up.
