Yeah we are all stressed the fuck out with this. Had two hours of sleep from Sat to Sun, four today, worked while refreshing on message boards and I feel sick.

Now I'm basically trying to think how Lacey can basically pay for what he has done. I mean, Weinstein is under investigation by a New York D.A., could the same happen to Lacey? I still have the words of what the second accuser said carved in my fucking mind and it's like she says there, Lacey doesn't get to win. We all know that even if he rides into the sunset now he will always have the dude bros cesspool from their fb and reddit to lay back. Losing our respect isn't enough. I need him to at least have to spend a shitload of money on having to defend himself from this.

Basically, brooming is a felony and falls under the statute of limitations, it's five years. Now rape? Nope. That if somehow an investigation could be made and there are logs and stuff laying around with chats between him and the accusers, it might lead to something. Even if it's at least to drive his name through the mud and people get awareness how much of a fucking asshole he is, it's already something.

Honestly and this is when I get totally paranoid and it seems like I hate everyone and want to watch the world burn, but I swear I don't. I like (some) people and give the benefit of the doubt and look for the positive intent, I swear!!

But that part of me that wonders how people present themselves when I'm not around makes me nervous. I know how someone acts around me, and that's about it. Maybe I'll hear other stories about them, but I see the version of themselves they present to me and idk what they're like in other situations. And as I am typing this out I think this is my Forensic Files obsession talking bc it has taught me that we are all secret murderers.

How so? They’ve cut ties with JJR, donated to RAINN on multiple occasions, took their last records profits and donated them to a charity of the listeners choice, not to mention Dans very vocal about this stuff and how it can’t be tolerated.

I know the time it took for them to really address the JJR stuff took some time but I’d say bands that still associate with him are far more culpable.

But again, again, I get why you say that and I’m sorry if this came across as like jumping on you because I respect you a ton and I’d like to see your perspective on why they aren’t “sacred” even though that’s a pretty nebulous term anyways but I guess I’m curious if/why you think they are toxic to this scene.

That goes for anyone discussion is good.

 

Congrats to everyone in here that is proud that they don't think their favorite band has any members that would/could ever sexual assault anyone.

 

I don't know, I love McMahon's old bands, never got around his solo stuff but I intend to. Everyone from "the scene" that I know loves Anthony and Dustin, and both are amazing musicians and I think it's safe to say my heroes. With that said, I don't need my heroes to be pure and righteous, I need them to be decent people. The whole rock star schtick doesn't bother me as long as we are talking consenting adults, and while there are other forms of abuse, as long as people I admire aren't literally brooming minors, raping adults, teenagers or you know, babies (incredible that we are in a scene that this is a freaking example, never cared about them but yeah), sexually assaulting people or murdering people I'm mostly okay. It isn't that high bar to pass. Just you know, be decent. That's good enough.

 

Afaik, some members are still tight with JJR and fought back against doing anything at all. I was PMed by a member basically asking me to stop bringing it up bc it'd "burn bridges".
