EA is a literal mess compared to Ubi so no they don't kinda deserve that in comparison. Ubi have improved upon their franchises recently and have a lot of interesting new stuff. I can't say the same for EA. I mean. Need for speed? What even happened there? I grew up with those games. It went to shit so fast. And Simcity too.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Ubi and EA really aren't comparable. Ubi has actually listened to the criticism of their franchises and took the time to improve on them. EA not so much. I was going to pick up Battlefront, but after all this mess I'm not going to bother.

    Meet me in Montauk

As an avid Siege player, I can vouch for Ubi and how they’ve drastically turned things around in that game. I think they’re DLC system is fair, achievable, and well-priced. They’ve cultivated a strong designated community by making good rapport between it’s development team and the player-base via good community managers, timely/adequate responses, and by fixing the issues. It should be pointed out that upon fixing bugs, new bugs always seem to come up, but at least they’re addressing them as required.

    EDIT: spelling

He is borderline annoying but does get the point across pretty well. It's hard to understand what he is saying half the time between all the swearing.

I love his Jimquisition videos but I'm not a big fan of his other content. His Jimpressions seem pretty far off. He also plays some pretty terrible shit.

I will play devil's advocate for one second and say that there must be SOMEONE out there (not pointing fingers of course) and they clearly must be the majority for these publishers out there to feel that it will work. I am sure it's just like everything on the internet where people complain until they are blue in the face and then turn around and pay for something in game. The only way this won't happen is if people truly stand together and stop buying these loot boxes, etc. but we know that is not going to happen.

I will embrace the idea that it is not going to go away anytime soon but I will say that I am big advocate for these AAA games to take away the $60+ price tag and turn it into a F2P game. Battlefront II should set the tone for this, but as I said before, it is not going to happen. Just me being a realist (@Dirty Sanchez).

I hate loot boxes and microtransactions but I also don't buy them or play most of the games that incorporate them.

They make so much money from the people that do though that it negates whatever small amount of sales they may lose.

The older I've gotten the more and more I realize how crazy the video game industry is. There is sooo much money involved. People love to complain to the man but they really don't need to listen to the consumer. They're still going to put out content that will make money. They have to pay for how expensive it is to create these blockbuster games. E3 is thing that I love most about the industry. They create hype for future games which is awesome for consumers but it's really about making their investors happy. All they care about is how well these products will perform.

There is a lot of money involved and not enough money to be made via conventional means unless you get lucky. Hell, even most games that are geared towards making money the new way end up flopping. It's a high risk, (mostly) low margin industry that has been priced into the ground.

The big 3 are all mature companies that have a good security net to fall back on. Microsoft is losing the console war to Sony for this generation but it really does not matter for MS. I love Nintendo's business model even though the Wii U put a hurt on them. The developing world for the big wigs has to be difficult. I couldn't imagine.

Platform holders are a different story completely of course, but the large majority of the industry is not them, and the platform holders (at least the gaming departments of Sony and MS, Nintendo to a much lesser extent) are almost completely dependent on third parties.

Yeah, we are talking apples and oranges when we talk about consoles versus games.

I wasn’t comparing EA to Ubi with that statement though. My point was Ubi has their own problems as well. Take the new AC for example, I came across several bugs in my playthrough of it, including one where everything literally froze in the game but not the camera did not. In order to play it again, I had to enter the pause menu twice. Plus, they practically ruined the momentum of The Division with their bad choices that alienated the player base.

True :) sorry just throwing my thought train out. Lot of different moving parts for development, distribution, manufacturing.
