So like what direction are they even going then? There's not a coach out there that's much better for them.

That's my main issue with this. I don't think Vogel is above being fired, and you can definitely argue the team has done as much as it could have under him, but shaking things up without a clear upgrade on deck seems a bit dumb.

 

I think larry was just sick of being complacent, I dont think he ever loved Vogel much either. I dont think there's even a real plan, he just doesnt seem to think Vogel is elite so lets just move to the next guy. I don't see a guy out there who's going to get even more out of this team, unless larry thinks hes found the next brad Stevens lol its weird

 

I think the catalyst to all of this was last year, when they dumped Hibbert after he declined and Bird basically changed the whole style of play from all defense to what it is now. The Pacers have been the best defensive team in the NBA since Vogel took over, but the offense is obviously garbage outside of PG and I think the longer that went on Bird wanted to change it to be more balanced even if it meant getting rid of a top defensive coach.

 

Really bummed about Vogel. There's nt a better coach available, why fire him now it makes no sense

 

if its true they are considering mcmillian or shaw over vogel that is a big LOL

 

I keep seeing people throw around D'Antoni's name lol

This has a higher chance of being a disaster than not.

 

If they go D'Antoni then I am not worried about the Pacers being a factor against my Cavs. I will worry more about the Pistons, Bucks, and Bulls.

 

if monta ellis is gonna be the second best player on the floor for you (aside from turners upside), you don't have much to worry about. even with PG

I know a few weeks ago I said the Pacers should fire Vogel but I really didn't think they'd do it and it's honestly a really bad move
