From the little I learned of having an intimate friendship with at least underground artists/crews in the past someone always knows outside the abuser(s)... even if it's just the people letting the fans on the bus/backstage/etc. It's disingenuous to think all the people involved with touring didn't see or think ANYTHING. Especially over years.

This has been bothering the heck out of me. I obviously want to believe they didn't know but I am in no position to know. It seems harder to believe they didn't know something. I hope at some point they put out a statement. I understand why they may need time (vs. Jesse who needed to speak out).

Like it's been echoed here a bit, I think it is impossible to be able to process this in the last 48 hours. I don't know how I will feel next week, month, or year. I would love to listen to them and feel that magic again, but I think it will always carry the weight of this situation.

I could be wrong, but doesn't it appear as though most of this was over the internet while she was underage? I bet the cheating and the addiction stuff was well known within the band and crew, but the real shitty stuff was probably pretty sneaky if I had to guess. Feels really gross thinking about it. Especially how long he went on with this girl.

 

I think maybe the most important part of this statement is this section:

"Concepts like repentance, compassion, and love, are made real through actions, and it’s through my actions that I need to prove change. I hope I can show humility, and that the pain I have caused people can heal. I am not above reproach, and no one should be."

Right there, he is admitting that nobody should forgive him or trust that he is a changed man. That right there to me says "i have made a commitment already to the people close to me, i have sought out help, and i dont expect anybody to forgive me just yet, because i still need to live a life worthy of repentance".

 

Perhaps he fibbed about ages, that's a simple lie ultimately... But I'm sure the band having this brung to them is like "Oh fuck...." which; if the case, is even more heartbreaking.

 

I kind of feel like KD's statement of not knowing where he's going to go from here may be where the band is as well. I was shocked that the FB post didn't mention anything about the tour or anything else besides the personal statement, but maybe they are forming a totally separate one as a group. I always feel torn between thinking that the inner circle has to know if even random people on the street do, but sometimes they can have blinders on or be sheltered from rumors too. His statement about owning up to mistakes I'm sure means they know some things he has done, but it's possible they didn't know about it involving young girls or such a pattern of abuse.

 

Like it's pretty impossible for them not to know he's a womanizer... but it is possible he was private about the fact he was soliciting minors. Still hasn't admitted that most important detail even now in his "apology", for fucks sake

 

Well I'd like to believe he never actually touched anyone underage, since she did mention him saying he had to "wait until she was 19." And some of the other accounts also mentioned him saying creepy things like "i wish you weren't 15," etc. Not to say what he did is much better, but you know what I mean. So maybe there weren't sneaky "back to the bus" things like that. But then again at this point anything's possible clearly.

 

Oh and about that apology. It sounded like sincere remorse but IT WAS TANGENTIAL, ATTENTION SEEKING, AND DIDNT AT ALL ADDRESS THE FIFTEEN YEAR OLD.

Look back on older posts of people discussing why he didn't mention the age. I think it's pretty obvious why not as far as legal issues, and IMO him not denying anything allows people to put trust in the accuser's words, which is more important than him re-wording her allegations. I don't see a point in him re-phrasing anything when he basically owned up to all of the stories being told.

 

Trust me, i wanna believe Jesse didnt do anything either. Band saved my life some nights, Long Island hometown heroes, hell it was only a few days ago I was bragging about Long Island Pop-Punk & Emo vs. the world and they were the #1 band I mentioned... but this isn't really a good look.
I didn't wanna bring him up cus his name is clear but at first I had a Conor Oberst hope... but the silence prolonged... then he made a statement admitting a problem with no referral to the actual issue that made him have to make a statement..... I would love anything but but.... well... it's not realistic to me atm.
Perhaps it wasn't as sneaky but clearly something inappropiate was going on and that cannot be disputed seemingly atm. If it all plays out and its nothing I'm sure everyone would love to see his name clear... but does it look like thatll happen? Not at all.

 

been having great convos with my girlfriend about this all night. we're basically on the same page. some of her friends are really really freaking out and we just kind of dont get it, but we do, but we're definitely pretty opposite of that. i mean its not like we outright forgive him and think what he did is okay. we;re just being realistic about the situation. we're both stunned he said something at all and love his statement

 

I think the coming days/weeks will really be what tells.... do more come out? How does this all go from here?
I am in a middle ground of not wanting to believe but wanting to be honest while also fully wanting to support any and all victims.

 

Why did I read the Facebook comments. So much disgusting shit that took some fucked up stuff from the statement and situation my god.

That song seems to be pretty blatantly about anxiety and depression....I guess you could say anxiety and depression leads to self loathing which leads to sex addiction in hopes of feeling good and etc...but I wouldn’t read too deep into the lyrics there. Even the ‘people we abuse’ line seems to come more from a place of abusing the kindness of the support structures around us trying to help us through our mental illness and etc...

And of course it was apparently written by Vin. Though I do think when Jesse said that at the show he could have meant the music? Idk

 

also another thing about jesses statement that i think is important. he acknolwedged that just because he is making a statement and saying sorry, it doesn't mean any of this is over. thats pretty important.

 

It’s full of guys basically admitting they’d do the same thing if they were Jesse. Seriously. Like “if I was famous I’d do the same no worries” kinda shit. It’s ... it’s fucked.

 

Facebook is trash, that whole joke about FB making you hate ppl you know and twitter making you like ppl you dont is true... but reading comments is like doubling down on FB shitshows lol. People feel enabled there cus their friends are there even if they're commenting on shit none of them will see.
FB is a toxic wasteland.

 

Facebook comments are ridiculous. One dude's opening line was "it's all good bro" and then proceeded to give a short conclusion on how we all make mistakes. Like seriously? Your response to this is "it's all good bro." I actually shook my head and chuckled just at how absurd that is.
