UTurn Orbit is solid; but after spending an hour trying to get the belt back on, I'd reconsider at LP120.

Do not get the LP60. I had it for <1 month before I couldn't deal with it just being a plain awful product.

    This.

I made the mistake 5 years ago, buying a dirt cheap Jensen, thinking I was doing my records justice. I was a poor college student, and just bought it without much research.

Vinyl collecting is one thing, but buying a turntable and set up is not something you can honestly dip your toes into for less than $200.

Umm... not set in stone about prices. I don't have any records and haven't even heard music out of a player before. It's totally one of those things that I've always wanted to do, but never got around to buying one and records. I heard from friends that the music quality from records is supposed to be fantastic, so that is what got me intrigued in the first place. A person above mentioned that I could probably get a decent player for $250?... which isn't too bad.

You can get a player for $250, but keep in mind you will also need speakers, and a receiver/ pre-amp. My initial set up was about as cheap as possible (Audio Technica LP60 plugged directly into computer speakers. Many people would steer you away from this, and in most cases I would too, but starting with this was enough for me to learn that my interest in vinyl was long term so I eventually upgraded everything and currently have a debut-carbon, which I love. Not saying you should go this route, because the LP60 doesn't have great sound quality, and no adjustable tracking force, so it can wear out your records, but if you want something on a trial basis, maybe look for used equipment to see if you like listening to records.

If you have the money, or already have speakers and a receiver I think the U-turn orbit is a good starter from the research I've done and they start around $180. It looks very easy to use as well.

Just comb craigslist. It really is still possible to find quality vintage turntables, amps, and speakers ALL for under 200.

Goodwills for old amps, they usually have a ton.

Tables are the hardest to come by, but craigslist will be your friend.

Keep in mind, you'll rarely ever really lose money on a turntable.

They can always be resold, in the same range of what you paid, as long as it's quality.

I agree with this statement 100%.
My Audio Technica LP60 is what soured me on belt-driven tables. That table would fluctuate between 331/3RPM and 32RPM randomly during a record. Changed the belt, no difference.

@Sal Paradise is right. Depending on the table you get you may be looking at another couple hundred before you're ready to spin a record.

Honestly though. The good ole phrase, "You get what you pay for," is certainly applicable when it comes to turntables, cartridges and accessories.
Just do a good amount of research before start spending. Make sure that you can recognize what additional equipment you'll need if you find a good Craigslist table. Maybe you'll want to figure out what you're willing to spend on each component, i.e. turntable, pre amp, speakers/receiver, accessories, etc.

I'm extremely happy with how far along these two band collections of mine are coming. It's taken me many years to get them to where they are now. Out of my entire record collection, these two bands are the ones I have to have everything for.

Thank you. I think so too. It's a toss up between a Wilhelm scream's diver or the fullblast contagious movement theory/short controlled bursts double LP. I was so glad I managed to get that one on vinyl, only 250 were pressed. I love that band

Great choices. If you have $75, No Idea Records is selling a test press of Partycrasher: A WILHELM SCREAM
