Anyone think the Sept(sp?) might have his eyes set on the Iron Throne? Judging off the conversation he had with Jaime and the look he gave Jaime, there seemed to be something a bit more insidious within him.

I think the Septon and the Faith Militant want to take down the Iron Throne.

We're also heading towards a religious war in some way, between R'hllr and the 7, I'd guess.

It's interesting to think about this undercurrent that religion plays in this series. You have the Faith Militant honoring the 7 right now presumably looking to take down the Iron Throne, you have Mel, Thoros of Myr, and a couple red priestesses over in Essos (and apparently one who will have a somewhat significant role in Meereen come up) who have done some incredible things in the name of R'hllr, you have Arya in the House of Black and White whose belief is Death is the only true god, the Iron Islands and Euron with the Salt God, and then you've got Bran north of the Wall exploring the magic of the Weirwood trees and the old gods. With Jon Snow, who was always a pretty staunch believer in the old gods being resurrected by Mel, I'm curious to see if they explore his faith at all.

Pictures from the new episode show Qyburn with a bunch of what I presume are Varys' little birds. We saw in the trailers that they attack somebody....does Cersei have Kevan and/or Pycelle killed so she can resume her control over the Kingdom?

Some of the story lines thus far are cool and interesting, but I am ready for more on the White Walkers and Arya's story.

I would guess that we will be seeing more of the White Walkers in this coming episode, or the next. We need to be reminded every now and then that there is more at stake here than just the Iron Throne.

And that's kind of my point as well. I would honestly be ok with tabling some of the Westeros plot for a bit for a couple of reasons. I thought the cult-like representation of the faith militant was a little much. I would like to see us table that piece and return to it when it's really good. I didn't think it was or is bad, I just want a little more from it. The only story I am truly bummed with is Dorne. I thought that it's pretty much been a waste in the show compared to what the books were doing with it.

However, the real story at play in the immediate future is winter coming and the inevitable clash between man and the White Walkers. We have been given some information about this group, but we really need more and I'd like to see the show give us that.

    I'm Back.

Everyone remember when Kit Harrington kept stating that "Jon Snow is dead, he isn't coming back"? Did he really mean that or was it deliberate misleading?

I'm wanting him to become a Stark, but who would have the power to do that at this point, Sansa?

I'm assuming we're going to need Dany in Westeros asap, honestly. The politicking will be key because no one truly cares about the White Walkers outside of Jon. All the majors players -- Ramsay/Karstarks, The Lannisters, The Tyrells, The Greyjoys, and The Martells are all in various states of knowledge of what's going on at the wall, but ignoring it completely in the face of consolidating power. They have no idea of the immediacy of what's happening in the North. Dany gets a pass on this, but she also falls in this category. Arya, Sansa, and Bran are major outliers because they have a shit ton of power (in their name, at least), but they're currently insane powerless and going through very different training. But I'd give a lot of money to see a united Sansa-Bran-Arya (and hopefully Rickon) front reclaiming the North.

Something major -- my hopeful guess is the Horn of Winter (or whatever it's called) is used to shatter the Wall, maybe as early as this season finale? -- will have to happen to shake them from the politicking to "Oh shit, we could die." I don't think Dany invading Westeros (assuming with an army of Dothraki and all her free people from Slaver's Bay and everyone else picked up along the way -- the Greyjoys? Arya?) would act as this catalyst at all. But Dany has the dragons and the dragons are vital for the battle against the White Walkers.

As for Kit Harrington lying... he was doing his job. Don't think it's anything more than that.

Well besides that, how would he become a Stark at this point? Ramsay was made a Bolton how exactly, I don't remember?

Can only the father name him after the birth family? I guess I'm confused because typically a bastard means that the father is unknown, but in this world, it's when the known father had a child with someone other than his wife...correct me if I'm wrong.

there is that behind the scene picture of Jon in Stark colored armor, so I don't know.

I think this was by royal decree by Joffrey/Tommen?

bastards can only be legitimized by the king's decree.

they might if they have reason to want to dispose of the boltons, like roose warned ramsay about.

Tommen might do it if Margaery wanted it/persuaded him. But I don't think that's a possibility after this week's scene with Tommen and Cersei/the Tyrells don't currently have a reason to want the Starks back in Winterfell.

    Gotcha.

Still excited to see wtf is going to happen with Snow, could only hope that he'll be a Stark one day but it probably wound't be this season.

    I'm Back.

Unless the Bolton's actually get there and start fucking with everything. Then there would be GOOD reason to have a male Stark come back to the land, and he is the oldest son of Ed at this point and the only able bodied.

the boltons effectively betrayed the lannisters by marrying ramsay to sansa. ramsay is a psychopath who will tear the north apart. the whole point of keeping sansa prisoner and marrying her to tyrion was to legitimize the lannister control of the north via the starks, if they believed that jon would be obedient they have plenty of cause to do so.

it is equally possible that he simply is not legitimized regardless.

i tore a hole in the fabric of time Moderator

Yeah. And if the Martells/Greyjoys/Dany starts shit, it would also be a good idea to have the Starks back if they need the Arryn (what's going on in the Eerie these days?) and Tully (I think we're getting more Riverlands this season) armies as well for whatever's going on.

I'm just not sure that Cersei would even allow it because of how she's established everything this whole plot line. I could see Kevan doing it, though, and he's currently the Hand, though I don't think we've seen him yet this season. Which is a little curious.
