Yeah that’s what some people have been trying to say for years. Those years were messed up. I got a bunch of messages from people last night talking about that era.

I did listen to BN from time to time but never took them as the idols....so Iam not shocked and viewing this with the same disgust as if it done everyone else...its gross,fucked and heartbreaking that this happening but can totally understand people who are disappointed and broke even more that this happened with their favorite artist who they loved...I would be completely destroyed if that happened with Alkaline Trio or Gaslight Anthem...:/

 

I do think serial infidelity is a form of emotional abuse fwiw.

 

My bands drummer doesn't want to believe it. Ugh. This conversation I have to have with him is going to be rough.

Like I'm gonna have to lay out how much more he needs to prioritize the safety and integrity of the community and teenagers in it, over the music itself, if he wants to be in this band.

Are there legal implications for Jesse if he admits to this? Perhaps that is what his lawyers are debating? Like, this wasn’t gross behavior, it was ILLEGAL and I’m sure there could be major implications if he just comes out and says “yeah, it’s true.”

I’m not saying there shouldn’t be implications, because obviously any abuser of minors should face proper consequences, I’m just thinking that may be a hold up in any potential statement.

 

The first thing I did last night after reading the news, was going through my phone and deleting the dozen or so videos of my daughter singing/dancing to Brand New songs. She asks at least a couple of times a week to listen to “Banew”. I’m just going to have to be the bad guy and tell her no, and suggest something else to listen to.

The thought of my girls listening to and enjoying music created by the type of man that is every fathers biggest fear, makes me sick to my stomach.

I literally feel asleep with tears in my eyes, thinking about what that poor woman went through when she was just a child. Hopefully she doesn’t put herself through more pain and suffering by reading some the internet’s reaction to her and her story.

It’s truly awful that this happened to even a single child, but I do hope that she was the only one.

Not sure if what I’m typing is making any sense. I’m still extremely upset, and I’m just vent posting at this point. I haven’t even thought about what this all means to me, and the very important relationship I have with this band. I guess that’s not what’s important right now.

 

And is there a statue of limitations for something like this? I have no clue.

 

Not sure if they were married but I’m pretty sure Jesse has been with his wife before TDAG came out. In one of her Instagram posts she talked about a time when Jesse drove her around listening to Jesus before TDAG came out. That had to have been 11 years ago.

 

It's an indicator that the person lacks the restraint to be appropriate / respectful. That they value sexual desire over morals and common decency.

In highschool I used to wonder why there were so few girls at shows. Now I get it.

My daughter was born Aug. 17, the day SF randomly dropped. Ispent my wife’s entire pregnancy trying to convince my wife to name her Lacey because of how much this band meant to me throughout my life. THANK GOD she hated the name because I’d have a lifetime of regret trying to explain her name to people and eventually her.

 

There is no statute of limitations for federal child pornography charges.

Checked my email and there was one from Ticketmaster about Brand New but it ended up just being an event reminder so no cancellation yet. Left Florida last night and flew to the UK to see two of the shows on this tour because one of the joys in my life is live music and traveling to see Brand New has introduced me to so many great people and places I would have never been to so I'm kinda numb to this bombshell. I can't in good conscience attend these shows, support this band, take joy from their performance with this news. All support and strength to the victim for coming forward, they are what matters here. If anyone else is skipping the London show and wants to hang out PM me.

Shit dude, that's rough. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm attending a gig in Nottingham on Friday night I would definitely have been down for this.

Mac Demarco and QOTSA are playing in London on the 18th, if you still want live music, you could see if tickets are available for them, that way you can at least see some music :)

But has there been any confirmation or proof yet? I totally support the victims in these cases, but allegations are such a complicated matter sometimes. I am sorry, I just can't seem to get across what I want to say. Not a native speaker and really sad. I hope nobody takes these words the wrong way.

Dick move but I imagine he's pretty angry at Jesse and the situation. I'll wait for a statement from him.
