What does this mean? As somebody from LI I think our scene has gotten significantly better at calling out abusive behavior (the real music scene at least, not people in their 30s)

 

Meant the people in the 30s.

 

Pretty sure I saw the age 22 referenced. Maybe in the Substream article? Is that back up?

 

This is what I'm spinning now after The Ugly Organ. What a band. Just trying to distract myself and get some actual work done today.

I got my copy of the standard vinyl yesterday & in the liner notes the band lists a few charities I guess they support. One of them is the National Organization for Women, which is ironic in light of this situation, to say the least.

 

Make sure you give this a spin too. It starts with the closer and leads into the opener confirms what I thought. I was pretty happy to see that. I knew those two songs were connected. Bands should do that more often I love that idea.

 

It’s like a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.. i put so much blind trust in this band... idk the red flags were always there but i always overlooked them and chalked it up to something else... I’m sure a lot of us are selfishly hurting, it shouldn’t matter that a band i liked is tainted while a victim has had to suffer for years.

Yea the abusive relationship, but also because it was a very similar age gap (I want to say 23-15, but I'm not super familiar with all the details).

 

I mean, it seems clear that in very weird ways jesse has alluded to this behavior both lyrically and on stage in his dialogue. Maybe their involvement with NOFW is because of some underlying guilt based on the things he's done in the past.

On Jared Leto isn't it a known fact he sent used condoms to both male and female cast members of Suicide Squad? Like that alone is sexual assault. I'd think in the eyes of the court, but even if not, it is to me. It's certainly enough for me to know he's a scumbag.

 

It’s ironic as far as timing goes, but there’s also a good chance that Jesse could have been a creep 10 years ago and isn’t anymore. I know that I’m ashamed of some of the things I’ve done in my past, but can acknowledge today, being better educated and more mature, that they were wrong and wish I hadn’t acted the way I did. I think his/the bands response to this will be very telling...

 

I don't know what to say. This is disgusting and upsetting. I need more time to digest everything before I can comment properly. Fuck awful people in this scene though

Yeah, I get that people can change. I guess it just hits on some complicated feelings I have about men who claim to be allies to feminism and how genuine they actually are.

That said, I’m interested in seeing what their response to this will be.
