Three of my top 5 songs from Alchemy in the Final Four

 

Firebreather is a fine song and a lot of fun live but it’s never been a favorite. Digital Sea is much more interesting to me.

Firebreather is one of their top three live songs which I think goes towards a lot of goodwill in a group of voters who most likely have seen them live multiple times.

Seeing Digital Sea get crushed breaks my heart :(

Seeing "The Whaler" losing breaks mine. I mean, are people even listening to these songs? "Daedalus" isn't even the best song the band has written about the myth of Icarus!

 

This made me lol.

But Daedalus is the better song. Everyone plays their instruments so well in this song, esp Eds sweet bass grove in the bridge. The build up the song does is really great too. Whaler is good too but just a one note piano piece.

 

Now I see the problem . . .

We're just not listening to the same songs!

It's definitely my favorite song of theirs about the myth of Icarus. I think I find the lyrical POV of Daedalus more impactful.

 

I love the guitar work in Daedalus, that's why I voted for it. It's not the best song they've written about mythology either. I like the whaler, but it's middle of the pack for me on Water. Most of my favorite songs have not done well here. I've just come to accept it and pick the ones I still enjoy over the other option.
